I was under the impression that the forms were kept at the point of purchase so unless there were multiple purchases from one outlet it couldn't be tracked.

Would it be politicizing the issue to mention that the tax plan would have given Paddock a huge tax break?

That sounds right to me. Supposedly the FBI/ ATF are prevented from generating a registry. In practice, the intelligence agencies probably have a defacto record.

A 64 year old white guy with a gun interest isn't that uncommon. In fact, its often claimed that the large increase in gun ownership is largely due to a relatively small number of collectors with a lot of guns.

Its probably abnormal to have a large number of AR/ AK rifles at the exclusion of a large number of handguns, but how would that be a risk indicator? Isn't this basically the 2nd shooting of this type outside of the Texas clocktower?

Most mass shooters use a rifle and handguns or just multiple handguns.
