deflategate was retaliation for Spygate. Many NFL owners were pissed that NE got away with videotaping and made clear to Goodell that NE needed to be punished. so it's not comparable to this "investigation" because it was a specific-purpose retaliatory attack.
ray rice situation appears to be comparable in that this shit goes down and the NFL's first reflex is to 'save' the guy (and their money)
we know the NFL does this for players, because this video makes clear that they do:
hilarious in retrospect because Teddy Bridgewater is about as clean as they come
what is surprising to me is that they have been caught again. that they didn't pay off the guy / hotel and buy the video and bury it is surprising. you can let the loose end dangle out there

it shouldn't take a videotape to punish a player - the investigation was pretty limited and shitty.

They didn't even interview Hunt, the one thing that they had the authority to do:

It's pretty hilarious when Belichick tries to act like an actual human being.

I know it's traditionally not the Pack way, but do you think McCarthy could get fired before the end of the season?

Yeah unlikely, but if he's lost Rodgers (which it seems he has) he's lost the team, and that can mean the door quickly.
Post game presser could be telling.

Rogers is done. He's looked miserable for the last few years and is aging by the second.

He's hampered by McCarthy's terrible play-calling.

He just looks over it to me. Like he just wants to just count his money and bang average looking celebrities.

McCarthy either doesn't know how to "ride" a running back (Aaron Jones is a beast) or is too worried about Rodgers being pissed about not throwing 40 times a game (which I don't think he would be).
Either way, he clearly doesn't know how to communicate with his team, can't manage a game clock and makes REALLY questionable play calls in critical situations.
Rodgers has been the best QB in the league for the last 10 years.
He's been let down by the organization, both by their support of McCarthy and their general philosophies.

To be fair, I've been saying he needs to be fired for at least 3 years now.
