2nd one is a bit more general than that I think. It's about the idea that having more black and brown faces on a tv screen is somehow empowering, when it's the suits (white guys) behind the scenes making all the money and decisions.

Why did Hollywood suddenly start hating the ginger?

The illusion of power vs. actual power. It obfuscates the real power and placates the underclasses.

It’s just the suits doing their jobs, man. No grand agenda other than the usual making money. Maximize profits by tapping into as many demographics as possible. I guess there are more minorities going to the movies than racists these days. Some would say that’s progress.

Generic white man crying about erased history over the casting of the fictional The Little Mermaid (live) vs generic PBS-guy progressive NPC insisting its make them feel less guilty.
What is an NPC?
non playable character. mostly in role playing games (Grand theft auto etc...)

the funny part is people assume that a mermaid has to be white. can anyone show me what color an actual mermaid is?

Yup, someone with a limited behavior/response pattern that can only recite predetermined dialogue.

wait, did you just give an opinion? I'm impressed! It's overly simplistic, but at least it's something.

Just skipping over the silly conspiracies and cutting to the root, accumulation of money/wealth. We probably agree on more than you think; just, I’m not a hobbyist.

yet POC are now making more money by being included. two things can happen at once. no one is saying that talent has to be paid as much as the execs

- You guys are too hung up on conspiracy theories. Of course there are conspiracies, but they are likely as much a symptom as a cause.

- Everyone conspires. It's not big thing. To say that the ultrawealthy elite aren't conspiring is pretty silly. Of course they are. That's not to say that everything is perfectly planned out or that everything is going exactly to some perfectly conceived plan. That's not even to say their planning is even that effective.

- The above is moot because my criticism of wokeness and its usefulness to power doesn't require a conspiracy anyway. I don't know why you keep insisting that it does. No conspiracy is required, though they are almost certainly present. Or rather, these "conspiracies" are the result of recognition of a change in conditions, creating a positive feedback loop.

- The ultrapowerful likely wouldn't be where they are - or at least be able to stay where they are - if they mindlessly sought more money. The best of them understand that money can only get you so much power. You think Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk or Bob Igor give a fuck about making another billion when they have the power to condition minds? Why do you think media companies are so important? The financial profit? What profit?

- There are other factors involved than crude profit motive or increasing the stock price. Wokeness is a great solution to many of the problems that the ELITE have at the moment, and that is why it's (very suddenly) being pushed.
