My office is not doing enough about this. There are still tons of people (including me) being made to come in to work. Fucking bullshit.

What's your office like in terms of the physical space?

Many businesses will suffer from this, obviously. But which will flourish, do you think, aside from pizza delivery?

So if the entire rest of the college semester is online, my wife's school is going to have to refund the final 2 months of room and board for all on-campus students and that will make the college bankrupt. Yay!

200,000 job loses here overnight. Government have set up fast track welfare payments to those unemployed in the short or long term. And funds for small businesses to pay staff if they’re trying to remain open.
Ryanair to ground their entire fleet in Europe. And every pub in the country closed to the foreseeable.

It’s gonna be the weirdest paddy’s day ever tomorrow.

Texas bars and restaurants will close before the cold day in hell that this happens, but I think it would great if on premise bars without food would be allowed to sell their packaged inventory to-go for now.

$10 says everyone still gets drunk

It’s usually just the tourists that do that. They’re in for a shock tomorrow they arrive today. City is like a ghost town.

Viruses don't know borders. #CT #NY & #NJ are taking a regional approach to reduce spread of #COVID19.

Effective 8PM tonight in all 3 states:

-Gatherings max 50 ppl
-Restaurants/bars will be take-out/delivery only
-Movie theaters closed
-Gyms closed
-Commercial casinos closed

So my mom works as a lab manager at MD Anderson, a leading cancer treatment and research center in Houston.

As of this morning she is reporting that "tons" of COVID test kits have arrived. Since MDA is not a typical ER type hospital, I can imagine that more typical hospitals in the region are ramping up for this too. The fact that a giant cancer research facility is prepping for emergency triage is a big deal.

She also received a memo that MDA staff screening for risk factors and symptoms is being implemented beginning tomorrow.

She's actually getting over a bout of parainfluenza at the moment and has been quarantining for the last two weeks.

Mayor is addressing the city today. I hope we shut down the bars and restos, despite my worries of food & service workers losing a living income. I don't think this shutdown will happen yet in TX though.

Yesterday was the last day Ohio bars and restaurants were to remain open outside of takeout and delivery. A co-worker's wife works at one of the hospitals in the Cleveland area and said they saw a large uptick in alcohol poisoning cases last night. :?

There's is this guy I work with. He lives in India. He's getting married today. Two to three thousand wedding guests. I guess they don't social distancing over there. I'm assuming I'll be getting all his work when he's dead.

I kind of want to get it. It seems inevitable and then I'd at least have immunity and be able to help my family.
