I mean, we're back to how do these things start?
Police come out to tell a guy to leave his ex-wife's house b/c he's not supposed to be there.
[5 minutes]
Police are mowing down a man in the street.
I'm not saying every situation can be de-escalated by police, but their record with black suspects is particularly shitty.
Eric Garner sold loose cigarettes, so he was choked to death.
George Floyd used a counterfiet bill, so he was choked to death.
Dajerria Bector was at a loud pool party, so she was slammed on the ground.
Breonna Davis once dated a drug dealer, so she was gunned down in her own bed.
Philandro Castile was pulled over for a routine traffic stop, so he was shot in front of his girlfriend and kid.
No. Fucking NO!
Fuck this, Jacob Blake had a knife bullshit. Maybe he did. Maybe he even tried to fight them.
The police were called to deal with trespassing and paralyzed a man with seven gunshots in front of his kids to KEEP him from leaving. Why the fuck do you think people want the cops to be replaced with social workers?
This coming from an account that stole another user's avatar, signature, and location. Very stable behavior.Mickey wrote:The macphisto account really going off the rails today.
What violence was he committing prior to the arrival of the police? You'd have to ask his ex-girlfriend, but it was apparently bad enough to result in a 911 call. He had an active warrant for sexual assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal trespassing related to a domestic incident. He was arrested in 2015 for pulling a gun out at bar. This was not a stand up dude.B wrote:What violence was he committing prior to the arrival of the police? Given the political climate, I doubt either side trusts the "authorities" to be objective and nonpartisan.Bi_3 wrote:If we reserved judgement until the preliminary investigation is complete, maybe someone could answer that.
Depends. Though if you try to commit a crime against me, your ass is getting smoked!durdencommatyler wrote:People acting like shooting someone is the only response to a perceived (or even potential) crime. No one has the authority to police others by shooting them.

This applies to 17 year old vigilantes and to trained officers who shoot Black men in the back seven times.

that’s true, but look at the alternative. Horrible violence and looting in Minneapolis last night and Chicago last week or the week before, both based on false information promoted on social media. We here can’t fix that, but we can at least be the change we want to see in the world and not rely on 30 seconds of vertical video to be the arbiter of what we believe.BurtReynolds wrote:Given the political climate, I doubt either side trusts the "authorities" to be objective and nonpartisan.Bi_3 wrote:If we reserved judgement until the preliminary investigation is complete, maybe someone could answer that.
