I moved out of So Cal in the late 1990s. Fires in the canyons during Santa Ana winds season. Good times.

my older brother is a loner and lives in a cabin near Estes park ..he's not in touch with anyone in the family but I know he's evacuated about 3 times in the last coupe of years

I believe it. Im leery of living in the mountains. The front range works fine for me. I’ve never needed to evacuate, but it’s come very close. Waldo Canyon was really bad. That one freaked me out.
This is the view from our office. The planes and helicopters have been dropping retardants for days. Smoke was barely tolerable in the office. I came home with a headache.

Halfway through this Italy trip, and it’s been going great, but this heat is otherworldly. Multiple times every day I think of Ham Porter in the Sandlot saying, “It’s so hot, Benny.” We visited all five villages of Cinque Terre yesterday, but I wouldn’t play ball in this. Anyway, on to Roma!
