that's sort of what i was thinking.shinkdew wrote:The US way over thought their roster.
Keeping aside my bias for Okposo, who is 2nd in US scoring and 13th in the NHL. I have no idea how you leave Keith Yandle off the team, playing on large ice, the guy may be the best skater the US has. I also don't understand how they had Alex Galchenyuk ranked ahead of Bobby Ryan. I think it's kind of obvious they picked the team in August and then they tried to find reasons to keep guys that were playing well this year off the team. It's bizarre Poile would say that Bishop, Pominville and Okposo were never given any consideration give the seasons they're having.elliseamos wrote:that's sort of what i was thinking.shinkdew wrote:The US way over thought their roster.
you've explained it already... pominville wasn't invited to camp over the summer.shinkdew wrote:Keeping aside my bias for Okposo, who is 2nd in US scoring and 13th in the NHL. Leaving Yandle off is kind of ridiculous... same with Byfuglien. It's not like the defensemen they took are just that good that they couldn't find room for them. With the exception of Suter, Yandle is as good as every single defensemen they selected. I agree, though... it really looks like they had their minds made up in the offseason and didn't make any changes to account for how players have played this year.elliseamos wrote:you've explained it already... pominville wasn't invited to camp over the summer.shinkdew wrote:Keeping aside my bias for Okposo, who is 2nd in US scoring and 13th in the NHL. He's been soiled by the nasty orange jersey so we don't want him!warehouse wrote:if im canadian, id be asking where the hell claude giroux is on the olympic squad.
luckily, i am not canadian, im american. so instead im asking where the hell bobby ryan is
I think they took Benn over Giroux. Given the season Benn's having I can see this. I don't understand taking Nash over Lucic. Lucic provides everything that Nash does but better. Would love to have seen St Louis mae the team but not sure at who's expense.warehouse wrote:if im canadian, id be asking where the hell claude giroux is on the olympic squad.

Lucic would be a disaster on international sized ice, Nash is much better suited to bigger ice.surfndestroy wrote:I think they took Benn over Giroux. Given the season Benn's having I can see this. I would have taken Harding over Smith but neither was going to see action, so pretty much a mute point.
and the comment about harding and smith is a quiet one, for sure.shinkdew wrote:Lucic would be a disaster on international sized ice, Nash is much better suited to bigger ice.surfndestroy wrote:I think they took Benn over Giroux. Lucic can skate in straight lines exceedingly well for a man his size. That's why he is so effective on the forecheck, because he actually makes it there in time. I think Lucic would be very effective in a 3rd or 4th line role on the big ice. Lay some hits, make some passes and have a bit of finish. Nash has been fairly brutal this year and definitely does not deserve his place on the team.shinkdew wrote:Lucic would be a disaster on international sized ice, Nash is much better suited to bigger ice.surfndestroy wrote:I think they took Benn over Giroux. Haha... you wanna hang out together in your dreams? Sounds like a plan!Simple Torture wrote:southp, I had a dream last night that I drove up to Montreal for a Bruins-Habs game. We should've hung out!

I think everyone's kind of asking about Giroux, but I don't think he was an obvious enough selection that anyone really cares that much. It's not like he's clearly better than Crosby, Stamkos, Tavares, Toews, Bergeron, Getzlaf, Duchene, etc... Canada's kind of ridiculously deep at centre.surfndestroy wrote:I think they took Benn over Giroux. Given the season Benn's having I can see this. I don't understand taking Nash over Lucic.
