I’ve had the tpb for at least 25-30 years.

From the date of publication in 1987, apparently even then it was the primary focus to collect it shortly after and that didn't happen until 1990. The edition I read was the 30th anniversary, wonder if it is the same forward as your copy.

It was published in 1990, with the introduction by Barr written in 1989. It does not contain the sequel story by Barr/Davis. Actually, I don’t think that had even come out yet.

Flipping thru it, I didn’t remember Davis had only pencilled the first issue. Didn’t realize McFarlane did 2-4.

Yeah, he was pretty pissed about the cover change apparently.

Year Three was solid, I think I had a few of the original issues or I simply remember the Year3 logo. Think I'm all set with Robin stories for a few.

Dunno if anyone here reads any Zenescope titles but I recently read the Return to Wonderland series and have interspersed the recent Bats with Beyond Wonderland. I read a bunch of Grimm Fairy Tales early on and thought it would be fun to revisit that bonkers world. I did not realize how large a 'universe' portions of it have become but I still find it enjoyable.

I’ve got those original issues. Haven’t read it in years. I remember it being good.

Year One is great to read with the Loeb/Sale work. Their stuff was a continuation of Y1, after all.

I picked it up but haven’t gotten to read it yet.

Batman '89 wasn't too enjoyable though it did have me quite obviously thinking of the Burton films and just how much set design was a strength, basically another character at times.

May go with the second 30 Days of Night collection next as they just started up a new series, Falling Sun.

Read the Daredevil mini, Cold Day In Hell over the weekend. Written by Charles Soule and art by Steve McNiven. Really good. His art is quite reminiscent of Miller on the Elektra graphic novel. All line work and no shading or hatching. Beautiful stuff. Recommended.

Added this to the list have not been paying much attention to Marvel lately.

Just finished the last issue of The Last Halloween, guess I should have seen the timely release coming. Lots of action as expected. Really enjoyed the series and for ten issues with ten different artists it felt pretty cohesive and flew by, I felt that wait with the final few issues.

On to Call of Wonderland next.

About twice per year I try to get into comics, and this time I’m doing the following:

-Finishing The Eternaut
-Reading the new X-Men Revelation Series
-Continuing with Transformers and branching out into the rest of the Energon universe
-Giving the new Godzilla series a try
-Maybe trying Star Wars

What’s overwhelming sometimes, especially for a series like X-Men, is that there are so many issues of different series that connect to the story. I’m going to read Heir of Apocalypse to prep for Revelation, but I’m not going to hunt down all the other issues that connect to it, probably.

The Transformers series really blew me away, I just finished Volume 3 and will get into Volume 4 when it comes out in November (and then try to catch up to the week-to-week). The best way I can describe it is it’s what I remember what the cartoon felt like when I was a kid, but for real (if that makes sense?). I hope GI Joe has a similar vibe, and I know nothing about Void Rivals, so that’ll be brand new to me.

Marvel has a couple of books that have been consistently good for the past couple of years. Fantastic Four and Thor. The X-stuff is still highly convoluted that just builds on the highly convoluted mess that X has bee for the last 15-20 years.

What Ghost Machine books are you reading, bada? I’m only doing two, Redcoat and Hyde Street. Both are remarkable.

i wanna read X Men too but yeah, sometimes its just too hard to follow.

I do wanna jump into that new Absolute Batman annual.

I get the same feeling from Transformers. G.I. Joe doesn't hit quite as hard but I still really like it. I would recommend reading the Cobra Commander and Duke mini series before jumping in the G.I Joe comic. There are Scarlett and Destro mini's as well but they aren't really mandatory. Void Rivals is fun.

Rook - Exodus is my favorite. I also read Geiger, Redcoat and Hyde Street. I gave The Rocketfellers a chance but it didn't click for me but I've been thinking about giving it another try.
