Vontaze single-handedly lost at least 4 games for ASU with penalties, including ruining what would have been a massive upset against a top 5 Stanford team.
He was such a dirty player at ASU that Dennis Erickson actually benched him.

Yeah, as someone who knew well of his antics back when he coached the Vandals, that really shocked me when it happened. Burfict also bombed the pre-draft interviews and didn't even get drafted at all, and everyone at the time was making the "same old Bengals collecting turds" comments when they signed him as a UDFA.

He was first round pick going into his junior year, but was crazy inconsistent that year. He'd have games where he'd completely take over and just blow up everybody in his path, then the next game would be out of it mentally and get manhandled by people with a quarter of his athletic abilities. He took a lot of shit for calling out his coaches. I guess that is warranted, but I'd bet that he was more or less right about Erickson's coaching staff being incompetent. In a way, Erickson was the best and worst coach he could of had in college.
Also, other than a failed drug test (at the combine), dude has had no real off-the-field issues, so I'm not sure some of the words being thrown around about him are really applicable.
