Why even go to the trouble to remove them? Those could have stayed up for years with no impact other than reduced transmission of COVID, colds, and flu.

Gotta go with B on this one. If the customers aren't complaining, leave the barriers alone. They help. Hell, they should probably upgrade them to bulletproof glass now before the demand spikes this summer.

Same reason people don't put bars over their house windows if they don't have to?

They may very well be counter productive. Creating barriers to airflow that don't capture aerosols is not particularly helpful.
