It's tough to know for sure. There are probably some really strong contenders from the 70s and 80s who were able to keep things under wraps.

it's tough to watch because obviously Kobe was a great player and his passing is tragic but that video reminded me of how it was tough to root for him (alleged rape and narcissism aside) because he had clearly worked so hard to copy Jordan's way of speaking, facial expressions, and other non-basketball mannerisms, as well as his game

like something out of a stalker movie

like he had to prove he was Jordan and supplant the memory of real Jordan

very weird

but I guess we all have role models and sometimes it can go overboard

and I guess he grew up later and mellowed out

but Jordan should get to be Jordan

and Kobe has plenty of Kobe to be proud of

RIP

This is a shocking & very sad thing still, and even as a diehard Blazer fan I liked Kobe as a player. But I was just reading back through some of the details from the Colorado assault in 2003. Pretty disgusting stuff, especially his lawyers & the media’s treatment of the woman throughout the ordeal. I hope that wouldn’t happen today.

I read somewhere a long time ago that Kobe chose #24 in the NBA and #10 in the Olympics because he maintained that he was one better than Jordan (whatever that means)...

Good to see some people here are coming around to the fact that he was a bad dude! I thought it was pretty disgusting that the impeachment trial began today with a statement (prayer?) honoring the PoS!

Really hate when tv tries to get emotion out of people in times like this for a broadcast. The on-court interview with Djokovic was wrong. They just kept standing there waiting for him to show some emotion or break down or whatever. It is really gross.

Not particularly. There were some hero ball aspects of his game I didn't like in the mid to late portions of his career. Refusing to shoot against the Suns in game 7 because he was mad he had guys like Smush Parker on his team was the kind of thing I would have went straight to RM to mock him about.

However, his mentality as a player resonated with me. Laker for life, was never the guy that would try and figure out how to dick ride another Superstar. He studied and worked on his craft (both ends of the floor). That clip of him not flinching at Matt Barnes on the out of bounds play sticks out in my mind. There are some players who would turn around at the ref and try and beg for a T.

The main reason I'm sticking my neck out so far in this thread for him is simple: I'm deep down a nice person. Shitting on someone that by all accounts has lived a blameless life since the 03 incident mere hours after they died in a fire with their 13 year old is *gross* and "wrong*.

Ok. No more Kobe talk for a while because we have some people that can't have civilized discussions as an adult.

How are you gonna ban people? You're not even a mod.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
