Inside Job is definitely better live - I saw a nice darker version in Chicago that really changed my mind on the song.
I can totally get enjoying it live. I like Boom's piano. I like the song structure. But the lyrics... are difficult to stomach on most days. Some days I'm feeling sentimental enough to appreciate them for what they are, but now I have this... this is my slow jam.

Yeah, it seems we're not allowed to complain but we're not allowed to not complain either...

waiting for the kids to go to bed to give the video another listen and hear the good sounding copy of the song. I am definitely prepared to say I like this song, and while I don't love it nearly as much as many of you seem to, it does warm my heart to see so many people gushing over new pearl jam..

Ten or so posts about how they hate it

Five about its ok

2 admitting its amazing.

So I should just shut up about my opinion? I'm hardly the only one here who doesn't like Inside Job, dime. Not a single band member in PJ is a poet so that's pretty irrelevant.

The good quality version sounds gorgeous.

Not to all the other laymen who hate it, apparently. :) But as I say, I don't hate it, I just don't like its lyrics except for on days when I'm feeling particularly sentimental. Thing is, Sirens will work for me even when I'm not. I'll be able to sit outside in the street considering whether to throw myself in front of a bus with this song in my headphones. That's not Inside Job.

It's the Sirens Effect. We've all been drawn in and brainwashed.

I think S/T might deserve another listen at some point, definitely. But I'm considering Backspacer practise and experimentation for this one...

I prefer S/T to Riot Act already, so it's a good start.
