Not gonna speak for others, but imagination nearly always trumps what’s on the screen. Plus the actress cast as Anastasia was like high school drama club level snooze. Great body, but zero talent and overshadowed by the sexier and talented Rita Ora.
Die

This is the original, I take it.

I really want to see it. The thing looks kind of amazing. I'm also fairly interested in the new one but I want to see the original first.
It’s only the best movie ever made but like nbg take your time I guess

I hadn't ever even heard of the thing until you started talking about it.
This was pretty good, though I'm not sure the projection I saw did the remaster any great service. I think my old DVD looks better.

It was shown as part of a broader Italian film festival here and I think at least a third (if not more) of the audience left in disgust/horror throughout, having clearly had no idea what they had bought tickets for. On leaving, one woman said aloud in the lobby "I don't know how anyone thought that was a good film, even for 1977!" - but at least she stuck it out to the end.

I also finally crossed some threshold of age/annoyance and for the first time in my life rose out of my seat, walked over to a disruptive audience member and told them to stop talking.

Suspiria typically gets laughs in screenings, at least the ones I've been to.

Watching classic films with modern audiences is usually an exercise in annoyance. Suspiria is such an overwhelming theatrical experience that it’s worth it, but goddammit people are the worst. All this lovey dovey “communal experience” talk about theatrical showings is such a load of horseshit.

I must have tuned out that kind of talk a long time ago.

Going to the movies is awesome. And the fewer people in the theater with me, the better.

I would have agreed in the past but now my TV is superior to theatrical projection so...

Well sure. If I had your setup it would be a different story. Though, I still do love the "big dark room."
