They ended a 10 part doc with it. It was awesome.
Edit: they ended one of the greatest docs ever with it.

Studio version, one verse edited out, edited other ways, but also a full 4-5 min. There's talking over it, too. But it was awesome.

An edited version of the song played during the sequence building up to, and then the entirety of, the climactic highlight reel of the game. It's the last song in the docu-series before the end credits. It's a pretty important moment.
The song is edited to extend it, so some parts repeat a couple times, and that could be kind of distracting for someone who is intimately familiar with the album version, but overall it is very effective.
Edit: what Rob said

You said it way better - the context is really what made it awesome.

Just go to espn and watch the last 10 min of episode 10 of the Michael Jordan doc. If you remember MJ at all, it'll be worth your while.

The year was 1998. The setting: Memorial Stadium in Seattle, WA.
On my way into the show I had actually given a spare ticket to a homeless man. I’ll never know if he actually attended.
I was there with two of my high school buddies, and there were probably a good dozen of us from my high school overall.
I’d been dating a girl from the other, much larger, high school that I frequented because I played football there (my small school not having its own team). The kicker was one of my best buds on the team, and he also happened to be said girl’s older brother. Let’s call him “Kyle” to protect the innocent.
During the show I crowd surfed a couple times so I had to make my way around the back of the floor and then if you wanted to get close to the stage again you’d have to push your way through. I decided to hang back a while, bumped in to “Kyle,” and that’s the first time I smoked a cigarette during a PJ concert as the band cozied in to Present Tense.
I remember it fondly and I remember it well.

Cool story Bammer. What are some other memorable PT's for people. Suprising to me was the Present Tense from the Ed Sullivan Theater show. Present Tense seems a subtler version of Pearl Jam's power and one that only a diehard fan would really fall for. That version from 2006 gave me such a sense of connection to the song, the fans, the 10 years since I first heard it. It lived up to all that Present Tense can be.
