Sounds like you are talking about a different song, than the one voted off early from Riot Act.LoathedVermin72 wrote:I love Ed’s muted, low vocals, Jeff’s punchy, funky bass, and the grinding, noisy guitars. I mean, I can kiiiind of see what you're saying on a very superficial level, but this seems to ignore all the rhythmic and aesthetic quirks in "Get Right". The song has a deep, rumbling groove that is absent from anything they made later. Also, as people have commented, Ed's singing, those guitars, the bassline... it strives for and evokes a completely different mood and feel from the shimmery pop aesthetics of Backspacer.Anders wrote:Yes, Get Right is like the first Backspacer song.LoathedVermin72 wrote:Huh????????Anders wrote:Tremor Christ really is an amazing achievement. Where Get Right showed us what was to come in the next decade (for better or worse) on Riot Act, Thremor Christ does it here. It's like the first taste of No Code and Yield, but with the best of the Vs/Vitalogy sound. Great lyrics as well.

Re: Vitalogy Survivor: Round 5
Listening to Get Right now. First 27 seconds are dreadful. Ed sounds like he's got something in his mouth. The music is repetitive and doesn't challenge the listener. There's no aggression, even if it's a punky song. It feels like everything that is wrong about Pearl Jam. Decent guitar towards the end, but never comes to the forefront.
Now listening to Big Wave. Not a big favourite either, but both the music and Ed sounds more energetic here. Still the songs seem to exist in a similar corner of Pearl Jam's world, one that would either not exist, or be worlds better if the two songs appeared on Vitalogy. The guitar from 1:55 on Big Wave is good though. Best moment of the two songs.

The fact that you don't personally like it doesn't mean it sounds like Backspacer.
