Solid episode at the midway point of the season, a lot plot lines packed in.

Interesting, that was the first episode that I really disliked. I thought Sally's about-face on Barry was out of character given that she was like, making his favorite meal last time we saw her. The detonator routine was way too slapstick--I know I posted here about Barry being fundamentally naive but using your last name as your user account for an illegal bomb, c'mon. And why does he say to Cousineau, "you'll never see me again," but then he's upset when Sally leaves him? I assumed he'd come to the premiere to say the same thing to her.

That Sally moment might be out of character but also she just had a very huge success so it makes sense she doesnt need Barry anymore nor she sees him at her level.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Yeah this seems obvious to me. She just had some success so of course she immediately dumps him.
But that's not how it's set-up on screen. She's crying and thanking Barry when she's on-stage, the little tween says "Barry makes me feel unsafe," and now he's immediately gotta go. And it's clear, actually, in S3E1 that she likes having the unsuccessful boyfriend who dotes on her on set. If we're to think it's because she feels too good for him now, I think they could have signaled that transition better.

I think her saying that to Sally triggers something in her mind...if everyone sees Barry as violent and not as the caring boyfriend she invented to them, she doesnt need him.

Also, she might write more stuff coming from another violent relationship.

Everyone saw Barry was violent, but the kid telling her made her realize it. Considering her previous abusive relationship and the resolve she found in the scene with Barry at the end of season 2, it would make sense that someone pointing it out would make her realize it and choose to be the strong one this time. Her trying to placate him after he yelled at her on set was the regressive reaction to verbal abuse.

Sounds like some of you would be fans of the fictional TV show "Joplin"

If you’re into this kind of thing, Bill Hader breaks down the episodes on the Ringer’s prestige tv podcast series

Yeah, there was more humor in the episode but it is getting progressively preposterous.
I still really want to see how it the rest of the season plays out.

i liked it, it kinda brought back the usual wackiness of this show, but it also kinda points out of how messy this season is.

I get that they did some very heavy re writes after covid, and thats why it feels so disjointed.

Seriously, how beautiful were those shots of getting on the freeway? I’d have to go back and watch but the apparent absence of a score really brought something out of it

Watched all of it over the last couple weeks. Love it all. It feels pretty consistent, quality-wise, to me.
