Yup, my predictions were (mostly) wrong! 94 rating on meta, same as the 2018 GoW. Really can't wait to dive into this one.

FWIW, the PS4 / PS5 side by side comparisons are impressive for both pieces of hardware. I've read the PS4 pushes the console to it's limit. Several sites have said that the PS4 has never been louder while running the game.

They really are impressive; I'm kind of shocked that the PS4 is cranking through a games like this. Though the graphics modes that are offered on PS5 are pretty exciting. I never used to be a 60fps snob, but after 2 years of owning a PS5 (and the MAJOR gameplay difference it made in Horizon FW, for example) I don't think I can go back.

Red Dead 2 almost blew up my PS4. I couldn’t imagine it running a newer game.

Yeah, Performance > Fidelity in most cases.

I'm in the midst of breaking in a new LG G2 OLED panel. As such, I'm going for Favor Performance + High Refresh Rate + VRR, 1440p :bammer:

Looking at the schedule this week the soonest I'll be able to start this is probably Saturday, dammit. Trying to stay off YT and the like to avoid spoilers, very hard to do these days. All reviews I've seen say the story is one of the best aspects of the game; not trying to ruin this one like I did the (amazing) Last of Us Part 2. Perhaps we use this as reminder to all to use the frigin spoiler tags for the next few months...

Played the first 1.5 hours of the game. Starts off very similar to the first one. The haptic feedback of the axe feels oh so good.

Probably 5 hours in now. There are too many upgrade systems.

Yeah, the interface is annoying. It's not hampering my overall experience and will likely feel old hat in another few hours.

I just get overwhelmed with RPG elements in games like this sometimes. At least you can level up every armor in the game if you like the look of something.

Sounds a lot like the first game which, yes, was annoying. Jumping into this tonight, finally.

So far, this is an absolute master-class in storytelling.

So nice to have such a polished game at release.

 I'm not very far in unfortunately (probably around two hours but planning to play for a while tonight), but I for one was kind of glad it started out a little slow. I needed some time to pick up the gameplay again as it's been a few years since I last played.

I can't get over how smooth performance mode is. I'm clocking around 80-100fps in some cases and the fidelity still looks amazing. Hell even playing in Fidelity mode is not bad at all, getting around 40fps there. This and the Last of Us are like the epitome of gaming polish at release.
