Listening to this now. I'm playing it right through and expecting great things. At "Copy of A" right now.

Did my first listen in 320 earlier, now that I have the FLAC I'm going for listen #2.
There's a whole lot of sounds and substance going on here, so it'll take a while to absorb, but the album is undoubtedly f'n awesome.
My first real "whoooaaaa shit" came from the trio of Running/I Would For You/In Two. Those songs bring it.
Pino Palladino's bass stylings on All Time Low are notable. I don't know if Josh Eustis is going to be able to nail that live, it might be too hard to be a tour staple.
But yeah, I want to hear as many of these songs as possible when I see them in October. If he doesn't do I Would For You, I'm bum rushing the stage.

The sound quality is way better. The guitars in CBH are louder.

One of my issues about Year Zero was not that he was using too much electronics and not enough guitar, because I like electronic music. Just that he wasn't particularly good at the programming. This album so far is showing some real improvement in his dance-music production skills. In early work he could rely on average skills because he had more "live band" elements to beef it up. Not so with his new direction.

Probably too much chordyank. It's happened to 3 pairs for me. Now I have some Senheisers, the stress points are reinforced, so they should last longer.
Is it October 11th yet? NIN and GYBE in Boston, baby.

Chordyank. I didn't know this was a thing, but it's sure to be that. It's just really ruining my listening experience, obviously. Need new headphones.

Really nice and unexpected loud part at the end of 'Various Methods...'.

Well, as far as I can tell in one headphone, this is a pretty strong album. I have one criticism:
- Spoiler: show
- It's front-loaded with fast dance songs. I wish there was more of them. The rest of the album is full of mid-tempo or slow songs. They're still good songs, mostly, but the lack of variety in the beats gets a bit tiring. This is a criticism I also had of Year Zero.

I'm waiting for the vinyl.
How does Everything sound on the record? Stick out like a sore thumb?

I'll need to listen to it a few more times to form my long-term conclusion on that. But in some ways yes, in other ways no.

Strong start. So few people do such a good job with not just sequencing, but just getting songs to sit together, play off each other, flow together, whatever you want to call it. In the way it follows Copy of A, I enjoyed Came Back haunted more than on any independent listen.

I was enjoying the fact that the sound is improved and slightly more nuanced, until my left headphone blew. My only issue with the sequencing was what I wrote above.
