Makes no sense.
Use the 2000 tour Schecter ffs.
I think he feels obligated to use the tele to cop that classic rock frontman thing. Think Bruce Springsteen.

Kudos to VideoGremmie for the audio quality here.
Ha was just about to post this, really digging this song more and more especially with the better recordings that have surfaced like this one. Still not feeling Future Days at all, but I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the studio version of this one.
Christ I really hope they don't cut Mike's solo short on the album.....
That is perfect audio on that video, and that lets me know 2 things, first is that im pretty sure the song is gonna be really good IMO and second is that i could clearly hear that it is a sloppy performance and its hard to fully judge a song off of a sloppy performance so i still won't know for sure until i hear the studio version. But im definitely a fan of it so far, but im not gonna keep listening to this performance, ill wait for the album or if it is released as a single before the album comes out

Can't something look cool while also being the guitar you like? You know, like every single guitar player in rock and roll history?

I think the UK and LB comparisons really start with the clean palm muted guitar. I hear that, but that's where it ends for me. Also, I think his guitar/amp selection really give an ok tone. While I think it sounds ok, maybe that's the guitar that feels most comfortable in his hands. Do I wish we would see the Schecter PT or the white SG? Yes, but at the end of the day, his guitar parts on most songs have always been pretty generic, letting Stone and Mike do the heavy lifting.

The strange thing is that the Schetcher is pretty close to a Tele, all things considered.
I think the pickups may be part of it, as well as the amp. The Schetcher had humbucker pickups, which tend to give a beefier, heavier tone, and I believe he's using Fenders now, which have a great clean tones, but can sound a little wimpy if you're using them on loud songs without any type of pedal to give it crunch (sorry, went a little guitar nerd).

The Schecter did have humbuckers, I used to have one. It was a nice guitar, but I preferred my Les Paul for songs where I needed hums. I built a Tele kinda like Eddie's because I love P-90 pickups and I always wanted that sound on my tele, so I could switch guitars less. I can pretty much get the same tones from my Tele now, as I could when using a standard Tele and a Les Paul with Humbuckers.

Good call, I was gonna do the same. I always give sloppiness a pass if it's something newer since their likely still fine tuning/finding the rhythm, this one has a lot of potential in the studio. Hopefully Future Days sounds better/less cheesy on record...

Ed has had some moments but FFS why does he insist on negating one of the better rhythm guitarist of the past 20 years?

Maybe I'm off, and it's hard to tell obviously without hearing a studio version, but that doesn't strike me as being a particularly sloppy performance. I mean, PJ always seems a little rough live, but it seems pretty rehearsed.

Ed really needs to work on reigning in/tightening up his vocal delivery on this one live. He was really all over the place last nite.....

It could have just been eds guitar that was making it sound sloppy to me, but im sure they put a lot of work in to get it down before they unveiled it, but the long rain delay could have gotten them a little out of sync

He's been all over the place for a while, on anything requiring even minor vocal ggymnastics.
The songs are too wordy.

I said it way early on in this thread but it is worth repeating. I am loving this song. The last half of the song just wails. I really couldn't care less about perceived "bad" lyrics. The feel of the song works for me.
So far we have MYM which is far better then any rocker on Backspacer, and now Lightening Bolt which in my opinion is way way better than any anthem on Backspacer. That is showing big signs of improvement. And I approve of that.

That first vocal melody kinda reminds me of Bore Me from Bayleaf.

Is this supposed to be, like, ironic or something?

No, nothing to do with the title of the song, it just does.

Because I find the vocal melodies in both to be similar.
