I would not consider it a peripheral in the traditional sense, more of the core input device.

Mouse for PC = Controller
Mouse for Console = Peripheral. I think SNES and PSX had a Mouse peripheral.

I mean a mouse is pretty important if you use a PC.. I thought I was being extremely clever when I thought of it after a few beers and some pot last night. I thought I was going to blow your minds. This morning I couldn't figure out what I was thinking but went with it anyway.
