Well,

Spoiler: show: I think, even with minor alterations, the plot will still play out as it does in the books. I think they included an explicit instead of rumored affair between the two so that when the Princess marries Leanor and leaves for Dragonstone, Cole will be pissed enough to take the other side in the war.

I'm pleased to say I'm actually enjoying the show so far, but I find her to be a petulant, unlikable little brat. Opinion could change as we move forward though.

She's the most interesting to me. She didn't choose to be heir. She didn't choose to be a pawn for her uncle and father. And she seems astute enough to lead well.
