It added a lot of tension to the end of the fight on top of the train.

It was a cheap move that undermined the character's arc and served only to motivate Ethan. Felt a bit like "there's only space for one girl in the team, so let's make room for the new one" too. Perfect example of fridging. Really lame. The movie succeeds despite it

I also loved that Ving Rhames sat through the entire movie, and the five or so times when several people took turns completing each other's thoughts to explain things to another character.

Spoiler: show
i didnt felt this was Illsa movie at all, although it felt kinda obvious she was going to die. I liked the whole sequence. The alley, the fights, the overall mistery to what was happening. I wouldnt be surprised if she comes back again somehow.

It's not her movie, no. It's Ethan's movie. You need to motivate Ethan to push his story forward. This was an easy (and, IMO lazy and overdone) way to do it. Don't think she was handled well in general (I immediately bumped into the fact that she was on the run again after explicitly earning her freedom two movies in a row). But yes, the sequence is cool, I enjoyed Ethan getting lost and the desperation. It's the story choice that I disagree with; I think the execution was as good as it could have been.

I did chuckle at the way that whole room full of people explained everything to Cary Elwes' character.

I also laughed pretty hard at the way Ethan "entered" the train.

That last one bugs me, it's a pet peeve. The analysts debrief the team leader once sentence at a time, and some of the sentences are inane, incomplete thoughts. It's even hard for me to follow, because my brain is spending time processing who is talking instead of what they're saying. Just let one guy talk for five sentences in a row. It's so annoying

Another casualty of the strike. Part 2 has ceased production.

Whoa, I did not realize this movie is over 2 hours and 40 minutes long. It moved extremely quick and remained entertaining and engaging throughout. Well done on the pacing. You really do not feel its runtime.
