Iran has apparently declared it will not get further involved if Israel avoids striking their assets and nationals in their first ever message to Israel at the UN

Israel has turned back on some utilities in southern Gaza (Israel supplies around 30% of Gaza's water)

Egypt has opened the southern border crossing to allow humanitarian aid in and foreign nationals out of Gaza

Any sources for that? It’ll be news to human rights organisations on the ground who’ve not mentioned that all day. It’ll be news to the UN too

The losses that Israel takes in a ground war will reduce the voter rolls of the opposition faster than it will Netanyahus former coalition (now in a temporary unity government).

What's the sales pitch for American Jews to take Aliyah? Fight Bibi's war so that the Hasidim get cheap housing they didn't bleed for?

Waging war on in a different flank. That being people in Israel who want him out of of office.
This is so predictable

‘Israeli minister is “promoting regulations that would allow him to direct police to arrest civilians, remove them from their homes, or seize their property if he believes they have spread info that could harm national morale or served as the basis for enemy propaganda.” No mentions about war crimes.’

I don't think there is any conspiracy here, just ironically misaligned incentives. If the right can swap anyone else out for him, they are sure to kick him out when this war is over. He owned the Gaza policy for the longest time, and it would seem periodically "mowing the lawn" was not going to be a sustainable policy.

Netenyahu in an impossible position now.
Families of those who have been killed or kidnapped being held in Gaza, are outside IDF hq demanding he resign as he promised this would never happen on his watch. And also if the promised air ground and sea assault on Gaza happens, those kidnapped Israelis will be killed probably by IDF.

Sacrificing your own people who are hostages and kill them to justify killing the enemy, military or civilian, is not going to end well for him at home or overseas.

There’s also thousands of foreign nationals from countries around the world, stuck in Gaza and not being allowed leave at the main exit point.

makes sense

Call me Naïve, but dang, people need to stop thinking in terms of history. Just because some of my ancestors contributed to historic atrocities doesn't mean I'm a bad person. Isn't that the solution? We can't make progress if we don't trust each other. Endless cycle of pain.

I mean, of course you don't trust someone who tells you their intentions are to brutally murder all the infidels... but, ...

The Onion, nailing every cvnt to the wall

Q: Where is the Gaza Strip?

A: Don’t worry about it. It won’t exist by the end of the week.

Q: How has the media approached the conflict?
A: Swiftly and irresponsibly.

Q: How many people have died?
A: That depends on whether you count Palestinian deaths as well.

Q: Am I allowed to be sad for all of the victims?
A: Absolutely not. You have to pick a side.

Q: What’s been the international response?
A: People across the world have contributed an outpouring of infographics.

Q: How has the United States responded?
A: U.S. leaders reminded Americans that their nation has a responsibility to be a frothing worshipper at the altar of death.

Q: How is Israel working to avoid civilian casualties?
A: Civilians in Gaza are being given the opportunity to be driven out of their homeland forever.

Q: Where can I learn more?
A: This is a logistically and morally complex situation involving decades of recent history and thousands of years of context, so try your cousin’s Instagram stories.

Q: What lessons should I take from this conflict?
A: That dehumanization begets dehumanization, terror begets terror, and none of us will be free until all of us are free; or, you know, that it might be easier to just look away
