Won’t Tell (Acoustic) sounds like a Ten outtake. These alternate versions have been fun to listen to. Glad this one got played live again.
are these being downloaded and compiled? This is gorgeous.

Waiting for Stevie is the best song on Dark Matter at all moments of the day except when I am literally listening to this one. For those three-and-a-half minutes, this is the one.
I don't think any other song causes me to doubt Stevie's supremacy. And I would rank Setting Sun ahead of this, too, if I'm thinking about it. But when it's playing and I'm just feeling, Won't Tell is absolutely spectacular.

Hot take: the outro to Won't Tell is a slowed down, better version of the Marker in the Sand outro.

Love this!
Also, I have to agree with the earlier observation that the YT acoustic-isolated version is absolutely stunning.

"oh and the promise I still hold,
won't tell a soul"
sounds musically and melodically like
"and tonight thank God it's them
instead of you"
it's Jam-Aid

So, this has to be the next single... right?

I would think so too. Outside of having good hooks and being catchy, it's pretty clear at this point that the length of the song is critical for what will do well at radio, etc. The 3:28 length is right in the sweet spot.
I also think it might be awhile (e.g. Aug or beyond) until they would want to do anything. Wreckage has been steadily climbing up the charts with no sign of slowing down. They're going to want to maximize that.

I guess I kinda wonder if the broader audience that may enjoy this track may give Wreckage a bit more staying power if they release it near Wreckage's pinnacle. But, wow, what a missed opportunity if they don't release this one.

They’ve barely even played it on the tour, so I’m not convinced they’re intending to release it as a single.
One of my favorites on the record.

I share the same concern. But, it's entirely possible they're anticipating playing it almost every night after they release it?

This is their most beautiful song. I almost tear up every time I listen to it.

Edit: on second listen this one is not good. A little too Coldplay/U2
Still doesn't do much for me on the album but I think this one is greatly improved live.

this is the dark matter song I have the most production issues with in terms of feeling too loud. but as I type this I wonder if thats partly because almost every other song has at least a slight opening build and this just drops you right into a song already in progress, like the first few seconds were cut off
relative minor issue i have with a very good song. that this ranks towards the bottom of this album for me speaks to how astonishing it is. this is truly one of their best

I think it's an unusual approach to an intro for Pearl Jam at this point (though In My Tree, Blood are two that I can think of that drop us in right away); I'm kind of glad that this album has one, the rest of the songs' intros and outros are very bombastic (somehow even more of a "this song will be big!" statement for me); it's nice that the waves calm down a little for "Won't Tell"

I actually don't get that sense of calm, personally. I don't know that it needs a big building intro, but Dark Matter smashes to a conclusion and Won't Tell starts immediately, and is already huge and important sounding. So I don't get that pause to take a breath.
I do settle in relatively quickly, and certainly by the time the verses start (at which point the song does feel like it pulls back slightly). This is not intended as a devastating critique. But this is the only song on the album that feels a little out of place at the start, and I think this might be why.
I've tried swapping Upper Hand and Won't Tell. Dark Matter into Upper Hand works well since it creates that pause (doubly needed given how DM ends). But then Upper Hand -> Won't Tell still has the same issue. I've never tried swapping Wreckage and Won't Tell. I wonder if that would work.
I do think In My Tree builds - Eddie and the drums are there right away, but it's a little while before the full band kicks in.
