I was pretty obsessed with Dave as a drummer from the time I was about 13 until I graduated high school. There were even a few times after Cameron joined that I wished I could hear Dave on a few post-Vitalogy songs, but, honestly...he was a stand-out drummer in an era of great drummers. He has killer chops and a unique flair, no doubt, but...that's pretty much where it ends.
The deification is borderline ridiculous. He's not Tony Williams or fucking Bill Bruford.
An endless array of spectacular drummers who played on epoch-defining records aren't in the RRHOF..Who cares?

In any event, Darryl Jones has played bass for The Rolling Stones since 1993 but nobody is going to suggest his contributions are comparable to those of Mick Taylor (five years in the band) or Brian Jones (seven years).

Boom was not inducted
and Ed did make a reference to it in his HOF speech, which was along the lines of 'he has been with us for X years, why havent you included him'
but that is the level of protest contemporary PJ engages in at this point
arriving to accept the award knowing that a key member has been excluded
dropping a one-liner and walking away with your prize

These kinds of arguments are so silly, though. They're like the kinds of college freshman stoner arguments you'd spend hours in the dorm going back and forth on.
You can frame them in any way you'd care to in order to make a point, because it's such an arbitrary, nonsensical honor. It's like being upset at who is and isn't in the WWE Hall of Fame. (The Midnight Express & Demolition should both be in, FWIW).
Both Nirvana and GN'R had, essentially, three albums in their prime, and both got in because the organizers had an ulterior motive; in Nirvana's case, they wanted to try to grab headlines with a mini-reunion and guest performers, and, in the case of Guns, they thought they'd be clever in trying to induce a reunion. We see how that turned out.
Maiden has had a four decade career and 17 albums and aren't in. Slayer has 12. Motorhead 23....Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, on and on and on....These bands defined and codified entire sub-genres.
Dave A. didn't get in despite having played with Pearl Jam for three years? Boo hoo.

Of course they gave us nothing.
What makes this suck extra hard is that they used “Go” to open the film.

Not to get too far off-topic, but, unequivocally, my absolute favorite drummer of all-time....along with Billy Cobham, Neil Peart, Bill Bruford, Max Roach, Bonzo, Moon, and dozens of others, but, I digress...
Have I ever told you I have a memorial booklet from Max Roach's funeral? No, I did not attend, but, I knew someone, at one point, who did. Not my intention to be morbid, it's a rather nice booklet.

I would have been SO much more impressed had they gone forward with "no, Binaural, Riot Act and No Code are good actually"

All the PJ20 stuff was a big turn off for me. It was really the last straw for me.
