Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.
Oh yeah what the hell was that. HahaFarmer John wrote:I feel fortunate that Adrien Brody's speech had no effect on my desire to watch The Brutalist.
If we're complaining about anyone's speech, it should be that Emilia Perez songwriter lady who started singing her own song.
What is your position on #gumgate?tragabigzanda wrote:Because I’ve never once felt anything approaching gratitude or humility from the guy and because I don’t find him especially interesting to watch on screen and because he has a very punchable facetree_ wrote:because you don't like seeing an artist passionately caring about his craft and showing gratitude? because he went past the allotted time to continue showing gratitude?
yeah, and they have time for long weird alternative-comedy sketches that are often more boring than the speechesAnders wrote:Don’t understand why the show lasts four hours, but with half an hour left, several major awards have not been given out, and there is no time for speeches.

Thank you, Anders. You are a good person.Anders wrote:Brody’s speech was genuinely one of the highlights of the night. This is what the show should be like. Let the winners speak.

I was more referring to Trag saying he has a punchable face. But uh, you might want to look into that AI stuff. Not egregious, and pretty much industry standard stuff.dimejinky99 wrote:tree_ wrote:really seems to me like you guys just hate jews or something.. imagine saying these things about one of the black people who gave a passionate speech last night
You would say that.
An asshole. Here’s why -
Any actor with some shame would have handed that Oscar back or even refused the nomination had their performance been finished with AI as his was. I can’t in good conscience accept this award etc st.
Every other actor nominated deserved it more than him. He’s a self entitled prick in reality off screen anyways nothing to do with his faith happy to report. But he stole that Oscar.
If timothee what’s his name can work for 5 years on guitar playing and singing lessons that’s the craft. If he’d used ai to sound like Dylan is say he doesn’t deserve that award either.
And another big reason and you’re just complaining about it above. He’s literally stealing other people’s time here and they let him do it because and they knew beforehand, very second of the night is rehearsed multiple times in the week before. And had they not? Imagine what the screams of outrage would be today. They cut him off! That’s Antisemitism!
If everything is antisemitism. Nothing is. And it’s not about that. He’s a prick and should hand that award back. He stole it and doesn’t deserve it.
