Of the 27 times I've seen PJ, I've attended with the same friend on about 20 of them.
We enjoy commenting to each other what song is coming next after seeing which guitar comes out, or the first note or whatnot. So suck it.
We just don't make a big deal about it to whoever is around us.

Depends on our seat location or GA, whether we're driving home or sharing a hotel ... Lots of variables.

In one of the periscope feeds from last night ("Lars?"), the periscoper was in the pit and got into an altercation with a guy who was convinced that he got pushed out of his spot by him. The periscope stayed on for a solid minute or two (which felt like 10) documenting this extremely uncomfortable exchange. Thank you PJ fans for all that you do to embrace emotional incontinence.
Reminded me why I always take reserved seats now. Not only so that I can leave to rocket out my inevitable 6th-song diarrhea and return to my viewing location without concern for it being taken over by bro-magnon man; but also so as to minimize the possibility of viewing or experiencing an interaction with a bro-magnon that might result in temporary or lasting physical or psychological trauma to my person.

I don't know. Almost all of my worst, most distracting audience member experiences (and ho boy I've had a few) have occurred when in reserved seats.
In general admission, you can always move; in reserved, you're potentially stuck with that dickhead for hours.

I was near a drunk scream singer on Monday. Way off key. Plus he announced that, "I love this song" before almost every song. Too drunk and too loud.

Sometimes I don't want to go to concerts (not just PJ) simply bc I don't want to have to deal with the crowd

I haven't had any problems. Not since Rapid City 98. Ive been in plenty of GA spots no problems at all. Just hang back near the rear of the GA section and youa re fine. Plenty of room in the PJ GA area on purpose. Room to dance, sway, sing, not get into fights with the Doucheroo's who are doing whatever it takes to get ed's guitar pick

Re: The Worst Pearl Jam Fans You Know
yea i was up on the Rail for that. Young 17 year old strat. I was punched in the head for about 5 minutes straight "i have one goal dude and thats to get to the front". Dude kept punching me. I finally asked to get dragged out. My leg almost snapped in half getting dragged over the barrier. That was the moment i realized the only time I care to be up close is if i have a seat.McParadigm wrote:That was an interesting crowd. Oh, yea, Then we walked around and back into the GA area and ended up maybe 30 feet from the stage and had all the room in the world. Had a great time.

Re: The Worst Pearl Jam Fans You Know
Near everyone I've ever met at a PJ show has been great. Surprisingly the only show since high school I've had any issue at was a U2.
I was with a small group of people, all front row on the rail. One of the ladies had very recently had a mastectomy and was going through chemo. Going to the show was a very tiring ordeal for her but a huge moment of sunshine. Needless to say I was very protective of her.
During one song there was a large surge forward. This one person tried multiple times to run through and get to the rail. During this I had my arms locked out straight to the rail and the woman safely between them, making sure she doesn't get crushed. The rail top was scary close to breast level for her.
On the third surge forward I turned around to clock the person in the head. But the person was a girl. There's a boot of the show where you can hear Bono say "Not at our show". Security got there and escorted her to the back, and I'm very happy I didn't punch her.

Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

Re: The Worst Pearl Jam Fans You Know
Most PJ fans I've met have been cool. It's generally the people around me that I don't know, or care to know, who are lame.
The drunk bros (first time drinking??)
The nasty older woman who thinks she'll meet Ed
The couple that sits down two rows behind you during a song they don't know and asks people to move over so they can see
The screaming "WOOOO" girl who eventually tries to get on her gorilla boyfriend's shoulders
The couple that makes out during Better Man (seriously, how do people still think this is a romantic song?)
The overly loud karaoke champ
The Samsung Galaxy 9-inch screen videographer
The merch guy who has so much shit he sets it down in your seat while you stand (not that I care, I never sit down, but who buys that much merch??)
Most of those carry over to almost any concert you go to.
If it's general admission, we usually tend to move towards the back, or where the crowd starts thinning. I've never been interested in getting as close as possible, unless they are assigned seats. I'm too old for that shit, and I enjoy being able to move around or go get a beer. Nothing worse than being in a sardine can with a bunch of sweaty aggressive neanderthals. Strat and surf's stories sound like hell to me.

see guys, shitty fans have always and will always exist at these shows. you're all just older now and have less patience for it. adapt or stop going.Strat wrote:yea i was up on the Rail for that.
