These lists are fucking impossible. I have no idea how you're able to keep up with them, LV.

Thus is the ruthless calculus of my mind

Most of my favorite movies are probably only my favorite because I saw them at the right time.

No doubt that state of mind, time and place, and various other factors play a part. A turd is a turd, and great is great, but we are clearly influenced by outside factors.

Yeah, for the list above, I went with more of a "best" than a "favorite" list. My favorites list would have a lot more romantic comedies.

I guess if you have your girl in your arms, and you are both crying at the end of the movie as you gently caress each other, then romantic comedies are great. If you're a guy seeing it with buddies or all alone, then I can't see how any of them would make it into the top 25 of all movies.

I can't help but feel slightly responsible.

This is harder to do now that I've been watching movies like a real person for over a decade. It was a lot easier when I had seen all the movies I loved within the last three or four years. Now, there are films that hold a special place in my heart that I haven't seen since eight years ago. Maybe I should incorporate rewatching into my routine more.

I thought about frequency when I made my list but ultimately decided it wasn't very important to me. That's why things like Do The Right Thing and Dance in the Dark and Birdman made the cut.

Lately I enjoy rewatching more than regular watching.

Wow.
One of the most memorable viewing sessions of my life was watching Sidewalks of New York on the DVD player in my roommate/best bro's room after we had finished working out.
