Human interaction is important. To love, to laugh, to feel joy, for some even friendship. These are important to life, and a vital part of RM.

It's best not to engage with Mickey when he gets like this.

That was a lovely post, Anders. I hope you don't mind I've made it my signature.

That was Anders' post, not mine.

Joe, you need to watch the show because you don't want to be like my cousin. And two, don't major in media studies, university level liberal arts is a joke
I'd give it a 50/50 chance your cousin makes more money than you.
Mickey, do you think you're heading into a lucrative profession? If you're making good money a few years from now, you will be the exception not the rule.
Also, since when is how much money one makes a measure of the validity of their profession? If a job is a joke, a job is a joke. I don't care if you make a million dollars. Buying a stock option on Monday and selling it on Wednesday for a million dollars profit is a joke job. Adjuncting undergrad liberal arts classes for 36k a year is a joke job. Growing potatoes and spinach is not a joke
Where does "librarian" rank on the joke/not-a-joke scale?
Many librarians are not a joke. I am one of the librarians that is a joke

I've seen one episode of The Wire.

I've seen five (?) episodes of Deadwood.
The Wire definitely takes time to get it's hooks into you. What made you give up on Deadwood?
I just couldn't get into it. Westerns as a genre don't do much for me. I like the cast but not any of the characters. It feels like one of those early premium shows that gets super vulgar and violent not because it has something to say but because it's on paid cable and it can.

I'm sure I just wasn't in the right mood/headspace. So many of my food friends whose opinions I really value day it's their favorite show. So, I'll give it a shot again one day.

Milch has spoken extensively about this decision, it's a really interesting one. Basically he wanted to convey that it was an outsider community (which it was!) but if he used the language of the period they'd all sound like Yosemite Sam so he opted for contemporary vulgarity.
