I still remember hearing a song off of What We Lose In the Fire on an NPR podcast before the album dropped, checking it out shortly after its release, and just being floored. Got to see them open for Josh Ritter in Austin shortly afterwards and was impressed again. Good stuff.

Yeah, when I saw them open for Bright Eyes when they were touring for the first album they impressed the hell out of me. I should have bought the album then and there, or at least looked for it when I got home. But I didn't, and it wasn't until a few months later that I remembered to pick it up. It was love on first listen.

I'd never heard of them until you started the thread on the old board, Petern. And, yeah, same for me. Love at first listen. I think you posted the first few tracks. I listened to the first two and fell in love. Bought the album that night. And the rest is history.

Count me as one of your converts from the old thread as well, Pete. Very glad you decided to spread the word.

I think on the first day in DC I'm going to go to the Smithsonian, since most of the stuff their opens midday when I arrive. I have to be at Union Station for a 2pm train to the airport the next day, so I think I'll get up early in the morning and check out all the memorials and u-s park service stuff since that is open 24 hours a day, and then be at the white house for 10:15 for the tour i booked through @westwingreport.

This is going to be a fun trip.

I can't post there, so I'll post here instead. You're making me blush, Kevin Davis.

Beautiful. I'm a sucker for an unadorned electric piano.

Seriously, such raw power and beauty in the voice and the song itself. Perfect song for her to cover.

Went straight from that to the live version of "Generals" from "Pickathon." Those harmonies...

Jesus, I've said it once and I'll say it again. The Daytrotter version of Give It Time might be the best thing this band has ever done.
