Oh man, that'll be such a nice gig.

Did the album he rec'd before Ashes and Fire ever leak or at the very least a tracklist? The one he scraped after hearing a Laura Marling album.

Nice!! Thinking about it. Trying to talk a friend into going. Right now my best bet is a buddy in San Marcos, Texas who is a teacher and he is trying to figure out a way to meet me there. Not looking likely but I am not giving up hope yet.

This won't really be "in support" of the new album. Only a handful of dates. So I hope the setlist is all over the map.

311 in 1996.

Eh. She is not a huge RA fan. Likes what she has heard but has not heard much. ALMOST had her talked into going to the Soundgarden/NIN show. Right up her alley.

My wife isn't a RA fan but she loved the show she saw in 2007.

I'm sure she would have a good time. Being 7 hours away though not sure it's worth her while.

RA is very charismatic and funny live. When I saw him last in KC he improved about a Badger named Admiral for like 5 minutes and everyone was rolling.

Am I the only one that thinks Heartbreaker is significantly better than the rest of his catalog? Or is that a common sentiment?

It's his best album for sure. Love is Hell is fantastic though IMHO.

Heatbreaker is absurdly perfect. I love that album so much.

Call Me On Your Way Back Home slays me every damn time. That CD didn't leave my car from 2001-2003.

I'm more of a Cold Roses guy, and lately I've been blasting the Whiskeytown.

Cold Roses is probably my 3rd or 4th fave RA album.

Adore Whiskeytown.

1. Cold Roses
2. Strangers Almanac
3. Jacksonville City Nights
4. Easy Tiger
5. Faithless Street
6. Gold
7. III/IV
8. Heartbreaker
9. Pneumonia
10. Cardinology

That's probably pretty accurate for me.

It would be a tedious process for me to rank RA albums. Easy Tiger is underrated.

This is pretty atypical from my reading of the fanbase. :nice:

Ryan Adams is bigger than even Pearl Jam for me. Been a committed fan since 2000. Clocked up 26 gigs thus far, and counting. Here's my ranking (including WT):

Perfection.

Love is Hell
(my favourite album of all time)

Heartbreaker
(title says it all)

Strangers Almanac
(the definitive alt-country record)
......................

Near Perfection

Gold
(A glorious summer record with all his most accessible songs, but doesn't lose an ounce of integrity on the way)

Cold Roses
(Pure cardinals at their best)

Pneumonia
(Eclectic and gorgeous and Ryan's voice has never sounded better)
......................

Mostly Great

Jacksonville City Nights
(Old skool country jams. Good with whiskey...)

29
(ryan at his darkest. i wish he'd make another one of these...)

Faithless Street
(solid first effort from WT, but too many throwaway forgettable numbers)

Demolition
(a mess, cos its a mish-mash of 3 records together. but contains several RA classics)

III/IV
(underrated massively. condense this to one record, and its a belter. balls out rock)

Rock n Roll
(the best Oasis record Oasis never made)

Ryan Adams
(solid rocking tunes all round - ironically very Bryan Adams...)

Ashes and Fire
(Ryan tries to remake Heartbreaker when happily married. Fails.)
.....................

Meh

Easy Tiger
(This record is a tragedy. So many songs that were awesome live (especially Sun Also Sets) but sound horrendous on record. Ryan on autopilot. This is Ryan Adam's Avocado)

Cardinology
(A lot of unforgivable meandering with only 2 or 3 "good" songs)

...and the rest

There's a shit-tone of unreleased records, many of which are better than the official releases. There are about 20 or so records, so the best of them are:

DARKBREAKER - the record 29 should have been.
SUICIDE HANDBOOK - the record that should have followed Heartbreaker
48 HOURS - Made in 48 hours, a perfect country record.
FOREVER VALENTINE - A record made with Whiskeytown and Ben Folds - some of his best writing here.
