I am also looking forward to spenno's comp. With my wedding coming up and the amount of songs I have edited and lists I have made of tracks. I fear I might have made this too big to finish till the end of the year.

Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:Well, I'm looking forward to your compilations. I haven't bought any official boots since Philly 2009 (I wanted to hear if it was really as bad as I witnessed - and it was). As I've said before, that was where I drew the line. Just as long as I'm not missing anything great, I'll be fine.
They're really hit and miss now but there have been some great bootlegs since Eliason came back in 2011. Curitiba, Porto Alegre and Lima from the South American tour in 2011 are all excellent. Oklahoma City and Portland from last fall's tour are great too.
Their problem is that they can't keep it together for more than a few shows at a time anymore. They'll play great one night and stink the next and you can't ever predict when that's going to happen. I was at Philly IV in 2009 and it sucked as much as you say, but the other show I saw in 2009 was outstanding and the show I saw last year was outstanding as well.
I agree with Spenno - they need to turn up the guitars in the 2014 boots.
I made a November-December 2013 mix if anybody is interested.

I gotta say, despite some minor mess ups, trieste is a great show

Brett appears to have listened - the guitars sound louder and higher in the mix on the Gdynia and Werchter boots

The Real Me is ommitted from the Leeds boot. "Technical problems"

Excellent! Now, about that Vault, Brett...
I can't quite put my finger on exactly what it is, perhaps a combination of factors, but I really haven't enjoyed the recent shows very much, current Euro shows included.
The 2011, 2012 and even South American early 2013 shows I found relatively enjoyable, at least in parts, but there's something about the post-Lightning Bolt release shows that I'm finding pretty underwhelming on a consistent basis.

Have you tried Oslo yet?
Ed sounds pretty great through the entire show. I think he laid off the sauce for this one. It shows.

I've sampled bits and pieces.
Whatever isn't floating my boat, it's not (just) Ed's voice.

Spenno, it's because they suck.

Ah, that must be it.
It's their whole current approach, I suppose.

Imagine if they did a tour with a full fortnight/month of rehearsing and banned alcohol pre show.
And limited LB tracks in the set to 2 at most.

Vedder would still add syllables.

I'm afraid that my issues with the band's current live performances run deeper than a lack of rehearsal and Vedder's aging pipes.

Even when the band is playing relatively well at this point, I have a problem with their stylistic approach to playing shows these days. I don't really like party Pearl Jam. I like kind of takes this shit too seriously Pearl Jam.
