Um, what I said before (and of course went unnoticed again), is that Cuban is not proud (and neither am I) of any prejudice, or insecurities we hold. His intentions are to get over them. He wants to do so through empathizing with racist thoughts, not sympathizing, in order to get to the root. I see this as a very Christian oriented philosophy. Is anyone here prejudice against Christians?

Because he legitimately cares about bigotry and those that treat people differently based exclusively on outward appearance and their own insecurities? I fail to see how HE is the one that needs to calm down. And up until today, i was the boards resident racist!

There are different degrees of one's insecurities & prejudices. Mine is very, very low. It's a knee jerk reaction, as I described before. If Lament is going to call me a terrible person because of that, then, yes, he needs to calm down.

He didn't say "I might at first want to walk to the other side of the street." He didn't say "I used to want to walk to the other side of the street." He said "I'm probably going to walk to the other side of the street." He's ok with his prejudices on this level. If he were intending to get over them, at this point, some fifty or so years into his life, he should be able to stay on the same side of the street and realize that this kid is far more likely to just leave him completely alone than other outcome.

What don't you get? Every racist in this country has a chance to improve themselves merely by the fact that racism isn't illegal isn't going to land them in jail. Every fucking day of his life Donald Sterling wakes up with a chance to improve himself. No one has taken that away from him. A private organization has chosen to expel him based on bylaws that he agreed to because they find him and his attitudes to be a negative for their business. The consumers in this country have largely chosen to applaud this decision and confirm the private organization's suspicions that his attitudes were going to hurt their business. Donald Sterling has every opportunity for the rest of his life to "improve himself." No one has taken this right away from him. No longer being an NBA owner meant he can't "improve himself." Having the consumer of this country think you're scum doesn't mean you can't "improve yourself."

I think you need to calm down. I get that you're hysterically grasping at straws here, but try to keep yourself moderately composed.

Nothing in the quote you included changes anything about the quote I referenced in the first thread. Not a single damn thing.

Mark Cuban is comfortable with a certain level of his racism. He can say whatever he wants about wanting to "help improve others," but if he still can't handle his own on as basic a level as which side of the street he walks on, then there's still a problem, and just because he thinks other people have a level of it too doesn't make it ok. I mean, it obviously does to you. But you've made it very clear how at home you feel in your prejudices.

I have a problem with the media in general. They could be talking about Casey Anthony trial, I'd still lose my shit. Or Tim Tebow.

I was upset that the "black kid in a hoodie" comment was more talked about than the bigger picture of what was being addressed. It was in bad taste, but I don't think he was referencing the Martin case.

If you don't think Jorge can talk about stuff that happens in the USA because he lives in South America, you probably shouldn't be allowed to talk about things that happen in Central Florida because you don't live here. Otherwise you just come off as a hypocrite.

If you honestly don't see why a neighborhood watchman with a documented racist history murdering a black teenager for walking back to his father's home from a convenience store and only having to face trial after the citizens of Central Florida put immense pressure on the Sanford Police Department was worthy of being a landmark trial in modern American history, well...then really you're just confirming every single suspicion about you that seems to be floating around here.
