You're forgetting about how this album ended up sounding..

Sure the final album sounds harsh but there execution of the "return to form PJ for the live experience" is basically what they delivered. No matter the quality of the end product, what they set out to do with ST and BS, they succeeded

some of those ideas can stick though. I put a frog stick in a song once and it's one of my favourite parts

I'm hardly a noted fan of Brendan O'Brien's work on the last couple of records but I feel obligated to point out he had nothing to do with the self-titled record.
Any decisions made during these sessions rest entirely on the band's shoulders.

Only had time to listen to the first couple of tracks so far (and not very closely), will update once I've given them a more thorough hearing.

Ah, nice. About to take a listen. The guess here is that some of these, including the other recent leaks, will appear on another Lost Dogs. Look what REM did - it released all of those "rare" tunes; could see PJ doing the same.
