Anyone saw them on Conan??

Great fuckin performance of one of the best songs from the album. One thing i dont understand of the new guitar player...i mean Corin´s guitar pretty much sounds like a bass...why a third guitar?

she was picking Carries part when Carrie went into a solo/or doubled up on Carries style? AND, shes gonna be adding keyboards on some songs (old and new)
I think shes basically there to fill in the void of sound in certain sections to compliment Carries and Corins playing (much like Ed does for Stone and Mike on some of PJs songs)

A New Wave, Bury My Friends, No Cities To Love, Price Tag, Surface Envy and Fade are all freaking awesome
Fangless, No Anthem, Gimmie Love, and Hey Darling a lil behind those.

and I dont know what they didnt like about the other 4 songs that were recorded? the 2 that are out so far would have fit just fine. They touched on it a bit on the Broad City interview thats up on NPR, didnt fit the sound/theme of the album? Maybe the other 2 songs that arnt out yet are drastically different? but the first two are just as great as everything on the album.

Goddamnit, this album just keeps getting better on each subsequent listen.

Every time I think it is going to plateau or start to feel stale I hear something that reinvigorates my listening experience. For such a short record that's really remarkable.

I feel the need of a live show. I might go to Barcelona to see this band. Fuck it.

Listened to this for the first time last night -- and then the second, third, and fourth times immediately after. This record absolutely lives up to every hagiographic word of hype that's been uttered in its name thus far. An incredible rock album -- not one bad track.

I also can't get enough of this right now. What a fantastic album.

The whole thing flows beautifully, but the No Cities to Love/A New Wave/No Anthems run is probably my favorite. That being said, Price Tag is easily my favorite song at the moment.

I don't want to jump the gun here, still being filled with new album excitement and all, but this might be their best album.

I definitely haven't responded with this much initial enthusiasm to any of their other albums -- usually the interplay of the riffs, the voices, etc. take some time to unfold. I think the major triumph of this album (for me) is how much more instantaneously gripping it is on the surface, but at the sacrifice of none of that mechanical depth of their previous albums. Like you say, I don't want to be guilty of "gun jumping," but I could see this being my favorite S-K album (but I was also one of the small minority who thought "The Woods" was a slight step down from "One Beat," so my S-K frame of reference might not count for much).

It's definitely their catchiest and most accessible album I think. Which is not a bad thing. Still plenty of depth, like you said.

For a band with only two guitars, they sure do have a lot of sweet basslines.

You're certainly not alone in feeling that way -- and don't get me wrong, I like the album a lot, but something about it that I can't quite pinpoint always felt a little unwieldy to me, compared to the lean meanness of "One Beat." I've always felt like Dave Friedman was a somewhat heavy-handed producer, maybe that's it -- as if Janet Weiss needs any help sounding like a monster.

Well Janet might be my favorite drummer after Matt.

I'm a huge fan and have been since 2003 - and I'm not totally sure what to make of this album. I love it, and I really love some of the songs, but I'm not there yet. Sleater-Kinney was a huge part of my life from 2003-2006 and it broke my heart when they called it quits. It's weird to hear new music from them, and I think I need time to let it sink in.

I dunno. I've only listened to it a few times so far, so maybe I need to let sit for a while. But right now I'd say it's pretty good but very likely the band's weakest album.

im the total opposite, 1-5 are killer, 6-10 not as much (although I do really like Bury My Friends and Fade)
2nd half just doesnt have enough Carrie for me.
