Cheers.

Aye Aye AYE AYE

Bardo Pond bros with some other local Philly dudes made a fantastic record. Instrumental, spacey very heavy on the Earth and Crazy Horse vibe.

Just confirmed... Going to see Other Lives on Saturday :hooray:

In other news, I need a few objective ears on this one... My friend Salim produced the new Damnwells album, and it's getting noticed nationwide. You can find it on Spotify, and here are a few youtube cuts:

"Easy Way Out" reminds me of this song every time.. that initial vocal melody that repeats through the song is so similar:

saw Other Lives at the Bluebird last night... They were better than expected, with a few multi-instrumentalists. Dueling violin/viola players at times, two drummers at times, very tribal/psychedelic post rock-y jams that get ya movin' to the groovin'... then I got real drunk, started high-fiving everyone in the audience, and it all went downhill from there

They were great, though, and I highly recommend seeing them on the current tour if possible. The opening band is good, too... 2 chick singers who can rock the guitar and bass while harmonizing, but with a sub-par drummer. Riothorse Royale is their name, and they said they're not cool enough to be on Spotify, so I bought their EP.

Gonna try to see them again in Dallas 2 weeks from now.

Yeah, pretty dull. That's two stinkers in a row from him -- maybe it's time to drop the "ensemble" arrangements...

The more he flushes out his sound the less intimate and engaging it becomes.

There have been more than a few really solid albums so far this year. Three that are always in heavy rotation around here. This year may have produced a couple of my favorite albums in a long, long time. We'll see how I feel about them in a year or two. But right now, I'm pretty thrilled with 2015, so far.

care to mention the three? I'm so hopelessly out of the loop at the moment.

I was just looking through the albums that have come out this year, and I've actually only heard 6 full albums that have come out this year. :?

I've really liked-to-goddamn-LOVED all of them, though.

Been trying to listen to more "new" or "new to me" music this year. I go confused because I've been listening to some great stuff but not necessarily stuff from this year. But still, the three I was thinking of/mentioning earlier, are all from this year and could end up being some of my favorite albums of all time.

Sure!

1. I Love You, Honeybear - Father John Misty
2. No Cities to Love - Sleater-Kinney

(these are two monster records that I just can't see being surpassed this year)

3. What a Terrible World, What a Beautiful World - The Decemberists

(my favorite of theirs since 06's The Crane Wife, and probably my 3rd overall fav by them)

I'm so excited for you! There's nothing like looking forward to a new record by an artist you've recently fallen head over heals in love with.
