Listened to this record all day yesterday, after a couple of spins I was convinced.
Really strong record, best side-project in years.
And further evidence that Jeff should take the lead in PJ's creative direction from now on.

I've listened to this a couple more times, and I'm in love. I think it's an enormous step forward from what they were doing on Acts. It's giving me all sorts of feelings...Great imagery from the music and lyrics, lots of themes about long-term relationships. Making me think about my wife, my family, some of my oldest and best friends. It's very effective music, and a lot of parts that could feel clunky, like the chorus in Stronger Man, just feel so sincere that it works.
Favorites so far are Stumbling Down, Ghost Riding, Stronger Man, Trouble (probably my absolute favorite -- such a beaut), and NYC Freaks. Least favorites are Comfortable, which I think is a great song, but the mix is pretty underwhelming; and It's Violence, which just hasn't grabbed me yet. But I really don't think there's a bad song in the bunch.
I think this is the very best music any member of PJ has put forth since Army Reserve. It's great to see Jeff plugged in to something so wonderful, and it renews my hopes for the future of PJ. But in all honesty, if PJ continued to put out records like Lightning Bolt, and RNDM continued to put out records like this, I'd be totally fine with it.

I took a listen. Really liked it and it will sound great once the vinyl comes. Also think it would be good for the iPod during runs. It basically sounds like something Joseph Arthur would do solo. I'm specifically wondering what Richard stuverud did during the recording process.
Really liking this in my first listen. Stray is fucking amazing.

Yeah Stronger Man has grown on me considerably since Friday and Trouble may just be the best track on the album, IMO

Joseph plays city winery all the time so I've probably seen him a half dozen times. Such a creative and talented guy. Amazing what having a frontman you can feed off of does for the music.
