So now Ireland allegedly told Martin to physically confront Incognito when Martin came to him to complain about being picked on. Oh, and Adam Schefter conveniently left out the last line of the voicemail, "Ok. Call me back." And apparently Martin played the voicemail for the team back when it happened and everybody got a big laugh out of it it. Meanwhile everybody on the team loves Incognito and keep saying that they were like brothers or BFFs.

there are several things i have problems with all this. First it is Richie (what grown man goes by the name Richie and their last name isn't Rich?) demanding rookies pay for his jetski's and trips to vegas and who knows what else?

I also read where people are saying icognito is an honorary brother so they have no problem with him using the terms he used. so what if someone said riley cooper is honorary and is allowed to say what he said? also is there like a membership card that comes with being an honorary brother that every time you use the N word you get fuel perks or a discount on the next Jay Z album?

the issue that set this all off was supposedly when martin went and sat at the lunch table and everyone got up and left. this is when he left the facility. according to many different players martin himself engaged in this ritual too. Maybe he thought it would endear him to the inside group but dont act all pissed off about it when you have done it multiple times also.

the more you hear about it, the more you start to realize that there is no right and wrong side it this thing, everyone is in the wrong im pretty sure. but Incognito still needs to get the shit kicked out of him

I think ol' Sage just earned some more appreciation from Dolphins fans.

My hate for Ireland is well documented, but I'd actually feel bad for him if he gets fired for this. I'll be happy he's gone, of course, but this would be a rough way to go out.

He deserves to be fired. He drafted a guy he thought was soft and then thought trying to have others toughen him up, unsupervised off the field was the way to address it. He's an idiot and he showed absolutely zero leadership. Ultimately this falls on three guys; GM, head coach and Richie.

The one thing I loved about rugby over football was 90% of the players only cared if you were tough for 90 minutes a week. My kid laughed when I told him after practice games of crib and Magic would break out along with the beer. Football tends to have a whole dumb macho culture that festers off the field and it's not necessary.

What kind of grown men still pull the "let's all get up and leave when he sits down" thing? I stopped that in junior high.

I think it's telling that even the black team members aren't lining up to defend Martin.

i didnt realize until today that that was the incident in the lunch room that caused him to leave the team, and he had apparently been part of the group to do it to other players in the past

Son, we live in a world that has "Voluntary workouts", and those workouts must be attended by everyone. Who's gonna skip them? You? You, Lieutenant Weinberg? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Martin, and you curse the Dolphins. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that Martin quitting, while tragic, probably saved toughness in football; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves toughness in football. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at tail-gating parties, you want me in those workouts -- you need me in those workouts.

We use words like "go for the knees," "clothesline," "crackback." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a fifteen yard penalty. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who drinks beer while cheering the big hits in games and then questions the manner in which I provide them.

I would rather that you just cringed said "Ohhhhh" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you attend a voluntary workout and lift some weights. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think you're entitled to!
