Noted.

But I think it also has to do with our consumer society in general, or should I say our disposable culture. Heck, even marriage seems disposable today.

That and the cut-throat, competitive nature of capitalism doesn't exactly fall within the guildlines of being a good Christian.

But really I just want to work on being a better person :)

Considering religion as a structure generally makes use of the tools of capitalism to perpetuate poverty, I'm not sure 'religion' can be blamed separately, or capitalism praised. Where they wreak the most havoc, they're one in the same.

The main exception being the religion of Marxism-Leninism / Maoism. Speaking of poverty and havoc, that is. It might just be that most religions assume at some level that voluntary transactions are the default state of human interaction. That's some dogma, I know.

i believe in God.

i don't believe God performs miracles today like those recorded in times past. there was a reason why each of those recorded miracles took place.

really bothers me when people say things such as "it was God's will". or one i really hate "may God be with you" when pertaining to traveling..."God bless your travels/flight". can't believe how much i hear this.

so when i land safely and enjoy my vacation, it was a blessing from God? what if i die in a fiery plane crash? was that the Devil's hand?

I liked this article. It has broken down love to the neuroscience of it just being a chemical reaction. It touches on how our understanding of neurosciences may affect our belief or understanding of freewill. I don't see anything disturbing about this nor does it change any of my beliefs but I love this sort of science.

Calling him "The People's Pope," Time magazine on Wednesday named Pope Francis its Person of the Year.

Ugh, I feel old. I remember when Time's Man of the Year was a big deal. Buy I'm okay with their choice.

It's a pretty big deal at my grandma's hair salon on downtown main street.

"Don't you just hate the Pope?"

My, uh....

What would it be?

Me ---> Wife ----> sister -----> husband

That guy.

He belongs to some super conservative Catholic group on Facebook, and they just hate Francis. Their lengthy attempts to sound more historically informed and knowledgeable about Jesusy stuff than "mere practicing" Catholics (wtf does that even mean) has been the greatest comedy Facebook has ever offered (according to me, who does not use Facebook, so).

Anyway, the point is the only people I personally know who hate the Pope are Catholics, and that's kinda weirdo I guess.

Younger catholics dig Francis, or the independent minded believers who left the Church. The conservatives are losing a number of young Christians due to that fact. But yeah not everyone is thrilled. So be it.

Most liberal youth I know in Argentina hate him because they're aware of his history in the country and see through his bullshit facade.

Yeah, these guys are not liberal youth.

But I'd imagine the youth in southern hemisphere countries are more relevant to the church's future than a group of 27-33 year olds in Amuhrakka, given the faith's population trends.

It's fact that the pope poops and his dookie is white. If that offends people of color that can't be helped.

Who eats their boogers? Do I pick my nose? Honestly, yes. Do I sometimes do this around other people, trying to hide it behind another hand or pretending that I'm scratching the bottom of my nose or something? Yes, sometimes, I'm sorry but it has happened. Do I ever ever ever ever ever eat the godforsaken booger? No. Never ever ever. Who eats the fucking booger?

I've kind of been getting the realisation that I thoroughly miss God. I mean, I miss believing in God.
