He regularly wears plain armor and a distinctive helm sculpted into the shape of a snarling dog's head.

Ned was renowned for his cunning and his strength, but aside from the Tower of Joy, he was never known for his one on one ability. Sandor "The Hound" Clegane GET HYPE. Sandor was known for his size, strength, cruelty, and capability in a battle.

it was 5 vs. 3 and everyone but him and Howland Reed died.

Also fourteen or so years before the events of the book so he was a younger man then.
