it wasn't a bad movie necessarily, but it didn't have any real impact on me either. And I think her story is kind of an unbecoming story... so that puts me off.
Interesting. What was unbecoming about it for you?
well the whole point of the movie is to show how she struggles with be tempted away from her husband which is kind of a garbage thing to do. also, I didn't like how quickly her character evolved from shy and pathetic, to confident and leader-like.

I, too, have been tempted to go see Brooklyn because of you guys. But every time I watch the trailer, the only thing I can think is "hurl" so I haven't seen it yet. Colm Toibin, who wrote the book it's based on, is coming to my town for a screening/talk in April, so I think I'll just wait for that.

Maybe substitute the podcast for one of your many, lengthy wank sessions.

I saw this fantastic quote from Tracy Letts and it compliments my unintentionally pretentious comment about humans never having improved upon the art of the written word.

“You will not get a better window into the experience of your fellow man than by reading a book. So when you’re done sitting there for half an hour, pick up a fucking book and read it for two fucking hours.” - Tracy Letts

His quote is probably better than mine. But they go together well.
