Thanks for posting this Kevin. I've never listened to Self Portrait, but I've worn out Nashville Skyline. I am loving this.

Yeah, about the three "lost years" during which he released three studio albums, a non-album single, and a greatest hits record with an unprecedented amount of new material on it.

I'm still waiting on Amazon to deliver the new Bootleg Series, can't wait for it.

I picked up Chronicles Vol One recently and have been getting into that. I think I may enjoy Dylan the man more than his actual records but I have found the Bootleg Series really interesting.

This looks cool.

Next month Bob Dylan will release a massive box set compiling an incredible 35 studio albums, six live albums, and a two-CD collection of non-LP cuts. Now, we have some good news for fans who already own many of Dylan's albums: the aforementioned outtakes compilation, entitled Side Tracks, will be getting a standalone vinyl release.

This vinyl pressing will arrive on Record Store Day's Back to Black Friday event on November 29. While the CD version was split across two discs, this spreads the songs across three LPs.

There are 30 tracks in all, including singles, compilation cuts, soundtrack contributions and other rarities. Some notable tracks include "Positively 4th Street," "Things Have Changed," alternate versions of "You're a Big Girl Now" and "Forever Young," and live takes of "Visions of Johanna" and "Isis." See the full tracklist below.

I haven't, oasisfan. To tell you the truth there aren't many of his albums that I'm clamoring to see remastered which haven't already been in the last ten years. "Hard Rain" is probably the only one I'd really like to hear cleaned up a bit (and ideally expanded). Maybe the gospel-era stuff, though I read one review of "Saved" that said the differences were barely noticeable. I am hoping that "Dylan" gets a standalone release, though--he just released a whole set of outtakes from that era, seems like finally getting that album out there would be a sensible companion release, hated though it was at the time.

The "Side Tracks" set features a ton of wonderful songs but it's mostly just the "new" material from the Greatest Hits releases and "Biograph." Columbia was smart to round all that material up, but even in terms of officially released material it's far from complete. I foolishly had my fingers crossed for a bunch of unreleased stuff.

I chose "Dylan" to listen to first, though work is not the best listening experience. I hope to get to "Side Tracks" at some point today but I agree this set did not unearth anything extravagant. The Amazon reviews were fairly enlightening and for the most part honest regarding the set. Gotta track down "Mr. D's Collection # 3" sounds like a good 'un.

PARIS — French authorities have filed preliminary charges against Bob Dylan over a 2012 interview in which he is quoted comparing Croatians to Nazis and the Ku Klux Klan.

The charges of "public insult and inciting hate" were filed against the musician in mid-November, Paris prosecutor's office spokeswoman Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre said Tuesday.

They stem from a lawsuit by a Croatian community group in France over remarks in an interview in Rolling Stone magazine in September 2012.

Speaking about race relations in the United States, Dylan was quoted as saying: "If you got a slave master or Klan in your blood, blacks can sense that. That stuff lingers to this day. Just like Jews can sense Nazi blood and the Serbs can sense Croatian blood."

A lawyer for the Croatian group, Ivan Jurasinovic, said it is not seeking monetary damages but wants Dylan, "a singer who is liked and respected in Croatia, to present an apology to the Croatian people."

He said the Croatian community in France was upset by the remarks, but said he did not know why Croatians in Croatia or the United States, where Rolling Stone is based, have not filed similar suits. France, home to about 30,000 Croatians, has strict laws punishing hate speech and racist remarks.

Representatives for Dylan, who performs in France regularly, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The charges were filed two days before Dylan received a French government honor at the Culture Ministry Nov. 13 but were not publicly confirmed until this week
