What i want in a kenobi film may not be the big action adventure film but rather a disturbing character piece of a man who failed to save the galaxy and now lives in isolation. Obi Wan found his redemption in Luke SKywalker in many ways and I want to know his struggle up to that point. I dont want a big grand adventure.

I dont know who'm i would like to see helm such a film .
This is partly why I think Edwards would be a good fit. Look no further than his film Monsters. Which is a dark, low budget, character film about surviving in a broken and terrifying world. It's not a huge action adventure film at all. The tone of Monsters is a lot like what I'd want from a Kenobi film, and what you've described above.

Having said that, again, I'd still like to see other people tackle the project. Cary Fukunaga would be my first choice.
I love Monsters so much
I enjoyed it. I know my initial reaction was a tad lukewarm, but I can't stop thinking about the movie. It really sticks with you. It's a powerful little film. I think I liked it a lot more than I realized while watching it. If that makes sense. I really need to see it again.

Yeah it definitely made you think about it long after watching. I love movies like that. It's what made me love Arrival so much

His new film out next month looks really really heavy.

Might have written him off too soon but let's see
The only film I've seen of his is Safety Not Guaranteed. Which I liked but didn't love.
THis was a great film i thought.

I liked a lot about it. It was strange and off kilter in interesting ways. I love Aubrey Plaza and I'll see anything with my boyfriend (Jake Johnson) in it. :heartbeat:

Right? I mean, he did say "don't hold your breath." Maybe that was the answer? What a stupid fucking answer. Dick.

It was the perfect non answer. But he's a SHIT poker player. His eyes give the whole game away and he's almost smiling the whole time

This is happening.

Think with the initial announcement of rogue one we got a poster with just the title on it?
And a teaser with just radio comms and battle sounds etc?

I want at least that for kenobi. Gimme something.

So there was no obi Wan announcement during the 40th Anniversary panel.
But there were videos from Liam Neeson and Sam Jackson while every other major cast member did appear.

Except Ewan McGregor. Conspicuous by his absence.

Can't see the announcement happening during today's Last Jedi panel.

So perhaps on Sunday during the closing ceremony?

They'll still do an Obi-Wan film. But he still has a part to play in the new trilogy. They won't announce the Obi-Wan movie (s?) until after Ep 9.

My pals on the talk Star Wars podcast had Anthony breznican on a few months ago and he said that exact thing.
Maybe the trilogy isn't done with Obi Wan. Need to let that be a different thing with room to breathe.

I'm just sad. I wanted Obi Wan more than Han. And I'll pay into see the falcon just flying around for hours on end.

Ah well.
