There are not. I've seen how these reviews are agreed to before hand.

Ludicrous production value, as to be expected. It didn't feel too far removed from Jackson's Lord of the Rings in tone to me.

So far, so good. Tells a story.

Hate these mid-week releases. No chance I can watch this until Saturday or Sunday, and finding 2 hours is going to be tough.

HBO Max gave it a run, but Amazon continues to have the WORST user interface.

I quite enjoyed it.

The Galadriel actress reminds me of Rebecca Ferguson in shots that aren’t close-ups, and that’s A-Ok.

I think this show is going to lead to more people giving the new Willow series a try in November when they’re looking for a fantasy fix, but I also thinks Willow is going to look like shit next to the visible money in every shot of this.

I enjoyed episode 2 as well. I can’t believe this in on tv. It’s gorgeous. They’re letting the characters develop. If I have one complaint it’s that when there is an action scene, it’s dark and fast-cut. If they really have committed to 5 seasons and the quality level is this, I’m giddy.

Is it five seasons? Didn’t know that

Just realised that can’t be Gandalf. He doesn’t arrive until the third age apparently.
Everything about him screams Gandalf so maybe it’s a bait n switch.
Bummer. Unless they’re going totally off script and bringing him in here.
Which will annoy everyone

Also, I’ve only read The Hobbit and LotR trilogy once in my life and I know nothing of the Second Age or why Tolkien purists are upset (I don’t care about the latter). I found this person’s recap to be very helpful:

After just one episode, I’m pleasantly surprised. The world, stories, and conflicts feel real and lived in. Nothing feels cheap and almost nothing feels hackneyed. Good stuff.

The one part that made me lol was when the Elvin king was like, “Have you ever heard of Celebrimbor? We’ll guess who’s here!” Just a weird coda on that scene.

It really does suck when a black elf takes a deserving white elf’s job.
