We spent years hitting the chapter skip on the DVD of that movie.
Okay, so my thoughts on these two.

Both movies were tough for me personally in the same way American Tale or Land Before Time was tough. The story of a child being separated from their protectors at an early age just really gets me.

As a dad, the beginning of Nemo is now tough and terrifying in new ways, but watching Marlin's transformation from a helicopter parent to someone who finally experiences a little life and can share it with Nemo is a great message that makes the journey worth it.

Finding Dory is much more light-hearted, though at it's core it's still heavy on the reunion aspect. Dory searches for her long lost parents. Nobody dies, but it's still emotionally impactful when she (spoiler alert) finds her parents after all these years.

Like B said, you can skip the impetus for the journey in Finding Nemo and still get the story. It's not really a movie about Death. It's more about self actualization. The dad, Marlin, is the main character.

That said, I like Finding Dory better. I really just love the characters and setting of that movie. Most of it takes place at a marine rehabilitation center. The Sigourney Weaver intercom gag cracks me up. Hank the octopus is a great character all around, and the whales are guaranteed to make a kid laugh.

Trag, you actually don't really need to see Finding Nemo to get Finding Dory, but you should certainly attempt both with your daughter.

I've never seen pepa pig, but man Bluey is pretty dang good. Seems to have some good things to say about parenthood. The dad's way of imaginative playing with bluey and bingo gives me genuine joy.

The ppl who made Bluey said they were aiming to do a variation of Peppa. They’re both good but Bluey is on another level.
