I meant for core strength, but still.

Strength training is something I'm interested in for 2022 but don't really know where to start.
Oh, mostly YouTube yoga videos and a few exercises from back in the day. Just looking to increase my flexibility and core strength for my back. Not really interested in bulking up much.
Gotcha. I've got some 3 and 5 pound dumb bells. Between those and planks, I think that's where my head is at.

I’m getting back into yoga too. I’m not the most flexible or balanced person, but I think I’m making some progress.

HIIT core workouts are the worst and I never plan on doing one again.

I have some thanks to strat's recommendation. They really helped me rehab my recently sprained shoulder.

I love them, even though I got kinda bored with strength training. I’m starting to try to get back to them though, mainly just to stay active.

You are welcome. I do have a lot of great and successful threads and you're not the first person they've helped. I'm kind of a hero

I am not sure what I would do without the dietary guidance of the argonaut.

washing machine wrote:Down to 179 lbs from my all time high around 208 in just a couple of years. Went through a couple of annual 30 day crash diets over the last two years that are designed more for long-term understanding of what good eating feels like as opposed to short term results. Lessons stuck I guess.

There's also the consistent running schedule to thank, but as I understand it, cardio itself isn't really a good weight loss method. I suspect the natural improvement in diet that good cardio demands has more to do with weight loss than the workouts themselves, since you really want to maintain an even calorie trade-off for fuel reasons.

Anyway, it feels good to feel fit. Slow and low effort is definitely the way to go versus any one diet or workout plan.
Congrats man! Feels good to feel good.

Im down 20 lbs from March of 2021.

I continue to fluctuate a little higher than i'd like but I think im at a weight that my body naturally wants to be.

Though, hoping to maybe lose 5-10 by April of 2022. A few more minor tweaks and some commitment and I should be able to do it.

Big thing for me was regular exercise ( hitting 40 i finally realized that i can't take a few days off and just continue on as if nothing happened like I could in my 20's and 30's. Also, cutting back on the heavier pastas/pizzas.

I feel great though and have realized i dont need a lot of food to get me up and down mountains.

 Diet really is a big piece of the puzzle, isn't it? Good point on consistency as we get older.

I lost some weight for my wedding back in early 2020 and never gained it back but also didn't buy new pants in the intervening two years. Horrified to learn this Christmas that I've gone from a solid gold, easy to find waist measurement (30) to a rare, vile size (29).
