Interesting. Are they making a permanent move away from December? Seems weird given their massive success at that time of year.

I'm thinking we'll get the Obi Wan announcement at D23 in June then that'll be it for a few years. We know they're developing one more standalone. Three was always the plan.

So you'll see TV series shortly after I reckon.

That's been the plan for a while now; the original release date for Episode 8 was 5/26/17 (so, a month from now) before getting pushed back to December.

I'm sure it has something to do with box-office draw. Once the shine rubs off on the series, they might need the summer-movie season crowds to keep receipts high. We'll talk about all this--and more--when I make a "Guess the Box Office" thread in December!
