This.
You're ALWAYS saying that there's something wrong.theplatypus wrote:So shrill. So... squeaky.
Ehhh, I like it. Some might say he sounds shrill and squeaky during the middle years, '96-'98 especially. What would you say to that?theplatypus wrote:So shrill. So... squeaky.
That he... doesn't? Not on the albums, at least.Leatherhead wrote:Ehhh, I like it. Some might say he sounds shrill and squeaky during the middle years, '96-'98 especially. What would you say to that?theplatypus wrote:So shrill. So... squeaky.
That is such a bad line.durdencommatyler wrote:You're ALWAYS saying that there's something wrong.theplatypus wrote:So shrill. So... squeaky.
There's no smoke and mirrors being applied on S/T, he sounds positively ragged on most of those songs.dimejinky99 wrote:tragabigzanda wrote:Wow, I think he sounds great on the album, all things considered. Funny you mention that.
Go listen to blood. Then play life wasted after it. Listen to them on headphones. Lotta smoke and mirrors going on. He's allowed get older and that's fine. But he's pretending he hasn't on S/T and it shows if you listen closely aka past the abrasive production.
I wouldn't care how Ed sounded if the songs were any good. Ever hear Jesus Lizard?dimejinky99 wrote:This.theplatypus wrote:I detest "Life Wasted". It's probably my least favorite Pearl Jam song of all time. Ed sounds really bad in it, but he sounds really bad through that entire album.
Listening to Cold Confession you really get a sense of his commitment to the older rasp in his voice in this time period.tragabigzanda wrote:Birds in Hell wrote:There's no smoke and mirrors being applied on S/T, he sounds positively ragged on most of those songs.dimejinky99 wrote:tragabigzanda wrote:Wow, I think he sounds great on the album, all things considered. I like it, I should add. I think Life Wasted is a great song and the pushed-too-far rasp in Ed's voice works for me.I think that era is him handling his aging pipes very gracefully: He doesn't sound perfect, but he sounds both passionate and in control.
