Exactly. Easily the worst book in the series and the reason why I'm far more invested in the show at this point.
Wait, you think ADWD is the worst in the series?

Yup
Well that was a clusterfuck. 34 hours of boredom only to end with a thrilling climax of Samwell talking to some librarians, repeating shit I already know. A perfect ending for the book I guess.

The only redeeming thing about it was the Sparrows, but they were barely in it.
You're the worst.
I'm terrified to know why you liked that heaping pile of shit, so I'm not gonna ask.

I liked it significantly better the second time around when I was able to keep track of the new characters more easily.

Probably for the best. Have a great forth of July, Burt. I'll see you on the other side of the war. 8-) :peace:

Pete, it goes:

Maybe you could argue a case for switching 4 and 1 but that's it.

I understand difference of opinion and all. But I'll genuinely never understand the hate for 4. Never ever ever. Different strokes and all that, sure. But these people (and there are a lot of them) who hate or dislike or devalue book 4 are all completely 100% wrong.

I don't hate 4 at all. In fact, I tend to agree with you in your defense of it. I just think the rest of the books are better.

Yeah, I do actually get that. All kidding aside. I just loved the book. It kinda shook me from page one. It's also the most subtle book in the series. There are a lot of secrets and sort of hidden things in the book that make it super special to me.

A Feast for Crows has a cloud hanging over it as if it reading it were to capture the feeling of a country ravaged by war

I love the idea of bringing in the horrors of war and the devastation it inflicted on the common folk, but the execution wasn't great. The characters aren't meaty enough to carry the long, repetitive, dull passages.

Cersei is a crazy bitch. I get it. I don't need numerous scenes of her hating everyone to get the point across. Chop off about 300 pages.

At least Jaime is there to provide some interest.

It needs some Tyrion to spice things up. Or anything really.
