And it's awful convenient for conservatives to accuse liberals of having a "knee-jerk" use of Hitler and Nazi references when they did just that to Obama for 8 years for no obvious reason, isn't it? There has never been a more apt occasion to remember WWII and warn people against WWIII, but why the fuck would anybody want to do that?

I know that. I'm trying (poorly) to say that it has evolved to have that implication now, regardless of where it originated. Kind of a new word like "faggot", but the racists can get away with (over)using it without actually saying something racist. Nudge-Nudge-Wink-Wink. Am I wrong? I'll shut up now.
This is more of what I was saying a few pages ago: The left is creating these racist symbols out of thin air, sometimes due to a lack of understanding, and in doing so inadvertently or purposefully attack non-racists. Only AFTER this do actual racists rush to adopt this, if they ever do, and the Left uses these useful idiots to back up their claim. The problem is this leaves non-racists in a limbo. They are now forced to defend themselves against leftist SJWs (who are often total racist assholes in their own right). But who wouldn't be resentful of being unjustly accused of that? They certainly aren't likely to join them (the shaming isn't working any more) when they know for a fact they didn't do anything racist. This is a huge problem for the Left.

I'm actually fascinated by this phenomenon.

But I was specifically talking about racists in the government and in the general public, not non-racists and certainly not Spenno, having their own little world now where they can get away with that shit. I had originally worded that post a lot better, and this notion was lost eventually.

Basically I'm not happy that we are finally becoming the Fascist Theocracy that I have seen coming for a long time.

The general atmosphere right now is that it's "cool" to be a bigot, and if you are upset by this, you are basically a huge pussy. This is not good.

Seems like protesting at airports could be hugely effective. That's a pretty big bottleneck for society.

Or maybe not.

Man I really gotta get out of this house. I might go join a March out of sheer boredom. I'm sure Portlanders are mad about something or another.

I think snow removal is nonexistent here.

I'll have to make a sign.

Boy, his shoe is on the other foot now, isn't it?
How so?

Despite the hashtag, there's no #MuslimBan.
Yeah, leaving the process identical for over 80% of the group's global population is not what should qualify as enacting a '#ban', and this type of reaction by the press and progressives is exactly what the tangerine team wants. They have constructed a narrative that says 'these organizations are the reason America ain't what it once was for you and yours', so when Trump does something and those groups flip out, he's using that to signal his team that he is doing the right thing for them, even when it is obviously not the right choice for anyone. There needs to pressure applied to congress right now to slow this down, not Twitter catastrophing. In fact, Twitter should probably be turned off for the next month or so, so that the country can deal with this buffoon is a rational and safe manner.

The administration has walked back on Green Card holders being subject to the moratorium. So that's one step in the right direction. Step two would be to think shit through before making the policy of the United States.

“I’ll tell you the whole history of it,” Giuliani told Jeanine Pirro as a Brooklyn judge thwarted President Trump’s executive order. “When he first announced it, he said ‘Muslim ban.’ ”

“He called me up, he said ‘put a commission together, show me the right way to do it, legally.’ ”

I dont think he was even trying to hide it. Banning people from muslim countries but then discussing how Christians can get in because of how bad they have been treated.

This can, and will, be a lingering problem for Republicans for years to come. But it is also increasingly an embarrassment for the Democrat party. They should adopt a new slogan. Some suggestions:

"Gee, we'd like to help, but how?"

"There are still ten people out there who like this president: we'd better work with him."

Or just a button campaign: "I interviewed."
